Heavy headgear makes my neck sore after a few rounds, but the lighter ones I tried didn’t feel safe. Is there a middle ground?

Neck strain is a real issue with bulky protection. The headgear from fight gear gave me solid safety while staying light enough to wear for longer sparring from boxing glove. It kept my vision clear too, which made the whole experience much less tiring.
