John Oliver is an English comedian, writer, producer and political commentator. He is best known for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Born and raised in Birmingham, England, Oliver developed a keen interest in comedy at an early age. After studying economics and social anthropology at the University of Cambridge, he started his career as a stand-up comic before joining The Daily Show in 2006.
