would each of the few lists from this source fall under that category, or just this one and any other non-pop-rock list? Your head must spin from all the judgment calls.

Can I doing the Jazz list and the Blues list or not ?

Sorry Romain, I was kind of hoping for an answer from you if you think the books are meant to complement each other or not.
The books are all sold in different parts of the stores (classical, in classical parts of the store, pop-rock in pop-rock part of the stores, etc...).
Indeed, some albums can be found in several guides (Led Zep in Pop-Rock and Blues, Prince In pop-Rock and Soul-Funk).
Perhaps, you can count the albums once. Make a global list whith the five lists when I wrote the blues and the jazz list. There will ultimately not so much that it duplicates (I really hope my english is understandable)

These guides don't feel as complete as the Rough Guides to Essential Music for example. There are several genres that aren't covered by these books (hip-hop, country, electronic). Also, since the books didn't come out at the same time, Usher is included in the soul/funk list while Arcade Fire couldn't have been included in the pop/rock book from the beginning of the 2000s. Hence, I think I will not include these lists after all. Romain, I'm sorry that you have worked hard with this without getting anything back. But at least these lists should be of some interest to other AM forumers.
The list stop to 1999...So Arcade Fire .....
This is not serious, the final decision is yours.
