Re: Films of the '80s: 1989

Only "A short film about killing" and "A short film about love" have had a theatrical release, but in a longer reworked version
However, Sight and Sound and Empire, the film magazines, consider the Decalog to be a movie.

Re: Films of the '80s: 1989

Looking forward to the 80s decade poll and the 70s.

Re: Films of the '80s: 1989

A bit of fatigue is setting in it seems, only 11 voters so far compared to the 15 for earlier years.

Re: Films of the '80s: 1989

I didn't have much time these last few weeks to do much of anything, so here's my short list:

1. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
2. Crimes and Misdemeanors
3. A Grand Day Out With Wallace and Gromit
4. Do The Right Thing
5. Born On The Fourth Of July
6. When Harry Met Sally...
7. The Killer

Re: Films of the '80s: 1989

And apparently so did some other people, the lowest turnout since we first started these competitions with the year 2000. Let's hope it picks up a little again in the next decade. In any case, here's our top 10:

1. Do the Right Thing (Spike Lee) - 305
2. Crimes and Misdemeanors (Woody Allen) - 288
3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Steven Spielberg) - 151
4. Sex, Lies and Videotape (Steven Soderbergh) - 148
5. Drugstore Cowboy (Gus Van Sant) - 118
6. When Harry Met Sally... (Rob Reiner) - 93
7. Back to the Future, Part Two (Robert Zemeckis) - 90
8. Henry V (Kenneth Branagh) - 75
9. A Grand Day Out (Nick Park) - 75
10. Born on the Fourth of July (Oliver Stone) - 71

Woody Allen, Rob Reiner and Steven Spielberg join Scorsese to form the 4 with 4, and Robert Zemeckis and Oliver Stone joins the group of 2.

The finale topic will be up soon.
