MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Guess (Deadline = 25th) the highest entry in this month´s Mega-Critic-Chart (Publication = 31st) as well as its position (as a tie-breaker) and enter the chance to win that CD plus two CDs of your own choice (as we didn´t have a winner for the last two months).

At the moment (May 21st) the following five acts (in no particular order) seem to be the best bets :

Clue to Act 1 : Silvertip Elizabeth Island

Clue to act 2 : Kingstown comedian

Clue to Act 3 : Johannes Sebastian arises from ashes

Clue to Act 4 : Insane sermonising for black death fanciers

Clue to Act 5 : Scary Red, frightening Blue, dreadful Yellow

Guesses so far (can be changed until the 25th) :

BillAdama : Phoenix # 10
Dru Morrison : St.Vincent # 9
Penguin : Grizzly Bear # 2

Good Luck !!!

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Manic Street Preachers at #11

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Grizzly Bear at #4

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Phoenix @ #6

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

i'm going to guess Horrors Primary Colours - at 6.

This new format is great. (I also like the fact that the new format arrived shortly after I mentioned the un-ergonomic previous format :] )

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Normally I wouldn't side with the majority but there's three cds at stake. I was thinking Grizzly Bear at #2 also but that seems incredbly high even though there's not much competition so I'll go with Grizzly Bear at #5. I've seen the reviews and it very well can go higher but I'll play it safe.

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Vecktamest at #2. Might as well go with the hype.

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Grizzly Bear at number 7

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

St. Vincent - Actor at #4

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Funny Primary Colours is coming up. I just picked it up and I think it's awesome.

It was only one of like 20 recommendations I got from the metacritic forum. I went to all their myspace pages and it was the only one I liked enough to make me spend money. And now it's the one shooting up the Megacritic.

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Grizzly bear at #2. Its not gunna jump over Merriweather, but it'll definately be #2

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Grizzli Bear at #3

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

SR and Kevin : Sorry, Penguin already tipped Grizzly Bear for # 2. You have the chance to change your guess up till the 26th at noon time (EU), otherwise I have to cancel your entries to the the competition.

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Grizzly Bear at #2

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Oops... Sorry, Stefan. Just read your post about Grizzly Bear already having a #2 prediction. Didn't realize it was a first come, first serve kind of thing. Better cancel my entry in that case as I think Grizzly Bear will definitely enter at #2.

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

I'll go for Grizzly Bear at #1. It'll probably get #2, but #1 is more likely than #6.

Edit: Just realized I'm 2 days late, whoops. :)

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Well, I think it's pretty much a given that Penguin won. If the reviews are any indication, we have the year's second near-masterpiece on our hands.

Re: MEGA-CRITIC COMPETITION MAY (3 CDs IN THE JACKPOT !) : THE CLUES

Is anyone else a little let down by the new Grizzly Bear?

I mean, it's good, but it's pretty generic indie lo-fi. Above average, but not really a standout. Not remotely up to the hype.
