Before revealing the songs, that qualified for the second round in this year's AM Pazz & Jop Songs poll, first I present you some general facts:
1) In total 26 people nominated each 20 songs, which makes a total of 520 nominations.
2) In total 325 different songs were nominated. The distribution of the nominations is:
1x nominated: 229 songs
2x nominated: 51 songs
3x nominated: 22 songs
4x or more nominated: 23 songs
3) That means, following the rule of the song at spot #30, that all songs with 3 or more nominations qualify, i.e. 45 songs!
1) Maximum number of matches is 5. The following pairs agreed each on 5 nominations:
Andre & Stephan
Andre & Henrik
VanillaFire1000 & Stephan
pop elton & Stephan
Michel & Harold Wexler
Penguin & Stephan
sonofsamiam & Henrik
Henrik & ako
2) Lowest and highest correlation (average # of matches):
VGRD: 0.60
John: 0.64
Moonbeam & Tim: 0.68
Harold Wexler: 1.64
Henrik & Honorio: 1.68
Andre & Stephan: 2.08
3) Everybody will see at least 2 of their nominated songs in round 2, and 12 at the most.
Already getting curious and impatient? Good ... more results coming up after I had a good night rest
Sorry about that, Moonbeam. Did you send me an updated list? Didn't get one.
Greg Maurer, I got your list ... but as you already wrote ... too late. As a comfort: Your list would not have changed the list of 45 qualified songs. I will include your list, when all individual lists are posted.
And as you might already have noticed in the deezer playlist above, the following songs also got 3 nominations and will be heard again in the second round:
Fleet Foxes - Your Protector: Nominated by Henrik, John and ako

Vampire Weekend - Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa [2007]: pop elton, Stephan and Honorio
Lil Wayne - Mr. Carter [feat. Jay-Z]: Nassim, John and Toni
So, Nassim was right. It was Mr. Carter, not Dr. Carter (that song only got your nomination, Rocky Raccoon...)
Beck - Chemtrails: Nominated by VanillaFire1000, VGRD, Michel and Jonah
Bon Iver - Re: Stacks [2007]: pop elton, Penguin, Stephan and Andre
Fleet Foxes - He Doesn't Know Why: Penguin, Jonah, Miguel and Toni

I added 3 YouTube links, the other 8 songs are now in the Deezer playlist. For your convenience, here it is again:
Excellent presentation, André. Sadly we can only get a preview of 30 seconds of some of the songs on Deezer (Blitzen Trapper, R.E.M., Santogold, T.I.).
Anyway great songs so far. The Top 10 is going to be awesome (I’d like to see some Shadow Puppets on it, but since I’m the only one who voted for them on the album lists I’m afraid not).
Before continuing our journey in nomination land, here's another fact for you.
Let's talk about the ultimate losers in this poll ... the following 4 artists each had 4 songs nominated, but none of these songs qualify: Elbow, Neil Halstead, The Dodos and Kanye West.
Yes, but to me "The Seldom Seen Kid" is an album with all good songs, no real outliers. Perhaps that's why it scores better in the album poll than the songs poll.
FYI: "One Day Like This" and "Grounds for Divorce" each got 2 nominations, "The Fix" and "The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver" each 1.
And oops, I just checked and indeed, Henrik, you nominated Electric Feel, not another certain MGMT song that might still pop up in the top 3 ...
Thanks for this correction! I have changed it in my 'administration', and this means Electric Feel shares the 10th place with Viva la Vida, A-Punk and M79.
If anybody finds any more errors (which I sincerely hope will not happen), please let me know asap.
Interesting choices. I'm thinking MGMT's Time To Pretend and Kids are still unaccounted for and I think that makes the other of the three still remaining songs "This Wind". I'm pretty sure that got at least 3 nominations.
Oops, nevermind Kids. Then I don´t know which song is left in the top 3. Purgatory Line maybe? I remember there were 3 people who said it was the best song of the year at a certain point.
I guess you're right Honorio. 2 Fleet Foxes & Time to Pretend.
It would be a huge surprise if White Winter Hymnal didn't make the list.
But I expected to see House Jam in the list.
And didn't anybody listen to Slush's suggestion Clockwise Witness. What an amazing song. And none of my recommandations are here either.
After all great choises everyone.
Ragged Wood and Time to Pretend are for sure in the list (they must be).
Oh, I forgot that one Andre. 26 votes. That's amazing.
The following 3 songs each got 8 nominations, and are the winners of the first round:
Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood (plead guilty unanimously are Tim, VanillaFire1000, pop elton, Jonah, Miguel, Stephan, Toni and Andre)
Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal (held responsible for this misery are Rocky Raccoon, Jonah, Miguel, nicolas, Greg Rumpff, Harold Wexler, Toni and Honorio)
MGMT - Time To Pretend [2005] (really ashamed of themselves should be Moonbeam, VanillaFire1000, pop elton, Penguin, Jonah, Nassim, Stephan and Harold Wexler)
André, you made an excellent work here. And the results were (as always) very interesting. The only choice that had puzzled me a little was the Bon Iver one. I expected “For Emma” (that’s the one I voted for), “Lump Sum” or even “Skinny Love”. But “Re: Stacks” surprisingly got more votes.
Thanks for a round one Andre. I am looking forward to go through all of the 520 nominees. For sure it will make a great playlist. But first focus will be on the 45 songs for round 2.
