Thirty seven votes were cast this year, with a total of 157 albums making it onto ballots. The top three seem to be the consensus of what the great albums were this year, with the top eight being the consesus "best" of the year. But there were plenty of well-loved gems below.

The cutoff at 25 includes all albums that received at least 30 points. For those that are interested, Goldfrapp and the Drive-By Truckers just missed the cut with 29. I will post individual ballots later in a different thread.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

24 votes for Fleet Foxes! How many ballots did you get, Rocky?

And Rokia Traoré in top 10. Fantastic!

Thanks Rocky!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

I'm really glad too that Rokia made the Top 10

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Me too. Wonder who are the other 2 Rokia voters

And we have 2 big Dodos fans among us...

A decent top 10, if you ask me (although probably some forum members will complain that a few genres are missing again).

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

1 here...i think he had her in 5th

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

i had her, that is

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

I didn't vote for any of those!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

I waited until the US release to get Rokia Traore's, so I'm treating it as a 2009 album. (Of course, by the rules I proposed in the song thread I can't vote for it next year.)

I'm surprised Vampire Weekend beat Portishead. Otherwise, we pretty much got the expected bunch at the top.

It's interesting how Frightened Rabbit makes top ten on Metacritic, top 13 here, but it's down around 75 or so in Henrik's list. I guess it's a case of music fans discovered it way before music critics.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

The site of Vampire Weekend upset me, but I wont get into that. Other then that it wasnt that bad. I thought TV on the radio had the most respect around here at the moment, but I guess I can't be suprised that Fleet Foxes topped the list. I can remember posting my review of it, the day it came out. everyone said "Kevin you always give high praise". Guess I had just cause!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Happy to see Fleet Foxes aheas
and to see Roia traore, even if I have not listened to the album yet : it's a great award to an excellent African year : Rokia, the Kuti sons, Amadou & Mariam, Toumani, etc..

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Thanks Rocky for this years list. A well represented list i think. A few things i reflected over. 37 points in two votes for the Dodos! That is remarkable. The second thing is the difference in points between Fleet foxes and Portishead. I expected it to be a little closer. I guess that is the price you pay for writing an album that requiers attention when you listen to it. Perhaps it is not so strange after all. I hade a similar points difference i think.
By the way, I am also guilty for putting Rokia on my list.

Thanks again Rocky.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Excellent work Rocky. Glad to see 'The Tallest Man On Earth' in the list, as well as Fleet Foxes at the top instead of Portishead. A very agreeable list and I will have to check out Deerhunter and Rokia Traore.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Thanks Rocky !!!
Question : are you gonna post individual lists ?
I f you don't, each one could post his top 10 (or 20 or whatever) in this thread.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Thanks for the good work, Rocky!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

I'm happy that Frightened Rabbit made this list. That album was high on my own list (2nd) and one of the best of the year.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

What happened to the Drive By Truckers? In my subjective opinion they blow Fleet Foxes out of the water.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Big year for Drive By Truckers. They had alot to prove, given the departure of one there key members. I loved the album, it truely created a new audience for them, and generated alot of new fans. I expect big things in the next 2 albums. ONe of them will be what they are remembered for.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

thanks Rocky/!" ..Traoré definitely does the twist on the menu card. ps: wonder with whom I share the 15 pts per head bonus for the taillight..

You can find my updated list here

So Paul, you'll see that the DBT don't do too bad on my list... but I guess they're a little too "classic rock" for this forum

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

If I had read the whole post, I'd know that Rocky will soon publish individual lists.. sorry for this lack of patience

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Results

Nicolas, I'm glad I'm not alone in my DBT fandom. I didn't submit a ballot because I haven't heard enough of this year's releases. I'm definitely not getting into the new indie thing, though. The dinosaur that I am loves DBT.
