Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Pip Brown (Ladyhakwe) is Kiwi, not an Aussie.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Interesting recommendations so far. Sometimes I do like the video, not so much the song itself. In the future, we could do a Pazz & Jop video clip poll as well.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

And oh, forgot to mention these guilty treasures that I'm seriously considering nominating:

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Around The Bend

Kate Perry - I Kissed A Girl

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

I focused on less obvious tracks. These are all pretty great...

Gang Gang Dance - House Jam

Nomo - Brainwave (if Radiohead tried Afro-pop?)

Aaron Parks - Nemesis (really dramatic, very accessible jazz)

Amadou & Mariam – Sabali (they were No. 1 on Metacritic for good reason)

Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes

The Week That Was - Scratch The Surface (in a year where so many artists referenced the '80s, it was great to see an album nodding to XTC, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, and mid-era Genesis)

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 - Think Africa (Fela's youngest son, sounding about twice his age, with one of the tightest bands imaginable)

My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Part 2

Mogwai - I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead

British Sea Power - No Lucifer

David Byrne & Brian Eno - Strange Overtones

Neon Neon - I Told Her on Alderaan

GZA/Genius - Life Is a Movie (love the Gary Numan sample)

Goldfrapp - Little Bird (someone showed surprise earlier about Goldfrapp gone folk - this is Goldfrapp gone "Strawberry Fields"-psych, and it's lovely)

Shugo Tokumaru - Parachute (absolutely charming Japanese pop)

Couldn't find links for these, but do track them down:

Femi Kuti - You Better Ask Yourself (probably in my Top 3 of the year, this is like Fela meets Curtis Mayfield)

John Zorn - Mystic Circles

James Blackshaw - Infinite Circle

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations
Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Great pics sonofsamiam (and Moonbeam too. Andre, I hope that Kate Perry is some other person than Katy Perry but I didn't check ) Just kidding I liked that song a little bit.
I have many same bands in my top 50 but different songs. In my opinion best Mogwai song wasn't in their album. It was Devil Rides from Bat Cat EP. Vocals by Roky Erickson.
Shugo Tokumaru's album was released in Japan in 2007 (and I'm not sure is there any single release of Parachute). But I'm going to vote it too (and Bon Iver's Re Stacks which was also released in 2007).

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Honorio, how do you embed this box.net player on a post here ?
I couldn't find out

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Shugo Tokumaru's album was released in Japan in 2007 (and I'm not sure is there any single release of Parachute). But I'm going to vote it too.

Yep, I know about the release date, though I assumed there wouldn't be enough Shugo vote volume to get it in. Just wanted to give it the love it deserves. I may end up voting for "La La Radio" now that I think of it.

And nicolas, thanks for the Femi link! EVERYONE should listen to that, it's just so good.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

In the 80's references you forgot to mention one band ... (yes, there he is again) ... The Fixx. Scratch the Surface is so much the Fixx. Pretty great indeed.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

It's awesome !
I think he's a little above his youger brother. seun is ok but sounds like his father's clone.
Femi really created something personal

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Mitchell, I'm aware that Ladyhawke is from New Zealand originally, but I think she started her career in Australia. I could be wrong about that, though!

sonofsamiam, I'm really liking "House Jam"!

popelton, I can't believe that as a huge Björk fan, I had never heard "Nattura"! I wouldn't say it's her best since "Pagan Poetry" (I like Medulla and Volta after all, but it is wonderful.

Hooray for this thread!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

A wonderful thread indeed.

LadyHawke's bio: Looks like, her first band was in Wellington, but she played a lot in Australia. So, I guess you're both right!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

"Alice Practice" and "Strange Overtones" are way cool! This thread is a gold mine.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Just listened to "Around the Bend", Andre. I was a bit afraid because I detest Katy Perry (she even made my bottom 100 for a list in this forum last year), but there's NO reason to feel guilty about it! It's awesome!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Well, both songs got me on the dance floor and they stick like glue in your mind (next morning you wake up and that song is there again...), so in that sense guilty. For the rest, they are quite different as to detest or not detest.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

OK, before going to bed, here's one more obscure, but quite nice instrumental highlight of 2008 (this live version is from 2007, but I still believe it qualifies as 2008 song):

Detektivbyrån - Om Du Möter Varg

Yann Tiersen is probably a big fan of them ...

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Here are some of my recommendations:

Ida Maria - Oh My God

Santogold - Lights Out

Blitzen Trapper - Black River Killer

Frightened Rabbit - The Twist

The Hold Steady - Slapped Actress

Why? - These Few Presidents

The Tallest Man on Earth - This Wind (My favorite song on an incredible album)

Also:

The Gaslight Anthem - Great Expectations (If you like The Hold Steady, check this band out)
TV on the Radio - DLZ
Solange - Sandcastle Disco
Wolf Parade - Language City
The War on Drugs - Taking The Farm
Crystal Castles - Knights
Bun B - If I Die II Night
Horse Feathers - This Is What (I couldn't find a link for this song but I highly recommend checking out the entire Horse Feathers album)

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Judging from the albums poll (which I'm about 75% done completing) here are a couple of gems that may have been overlooked:
Jenny Lewis "Acid Tongue"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oxmIpr0baw&feature=related
Okkervil River: "Singer Songwriter" You'll have to go to songza for a quality version of this.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Beat Control- Tilly and the Wall
Absolutely ZERO votes for anyone's album of the year. Much cuter and catchier than Clap Your Hands Say Yeah but I guess cute isn't in any more. They deserve better.

Graveyard Girl- M83
House in My Head- Sons and Daughters
Lasso- Duke Spirit
Love is Noise - the Verve
Hunter- Portishead
5 Years Time- Noah and the Whale
Forget Romance Let's Dance- We Should be Dance

Pocketful Of Sunshine- Natasha Bedingfield
Thou Shalt Always Kill- Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
Sour Cherry- the Kills

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Shoot I forgot how this forum embeds YouTube videos. I hope that doesn't prevent you from taking the extra click.

I will never cease in my Deerhoof promotion...

Deerhoof - Fresh Born
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcNnCxrN2Xk

Other than the usual suspects, here's 3 buried gems.

The Black Angels - Deer-Ree-Shee
http://songza.com/z/pc1h45

The Raveonettes - Hallucinations
http://songza.com/z/alcbsc

Beck - Chemtrails
http://songza.com/z/uxcmrn

I'll try get through some of your suggestions, but I've just made it through Pitchfork's entire 100 list... whew!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

I didn't get to as much new music in 2008 as in 2007, so my list isn't filled w/ many surprises or esoteric songs. However, I'll recommend just one song in the hope that people actually listen to it:

DeVotchKa - The Clockwise Witness

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Wow, wonderful thread, congratulations everyone (although I haven’t got time enough to go in deep with everyone’s list). A special congratulation to Moonbeam, you really got a strong personality in your music tastes (from now on I will call this kind of music “Moonbeamian”, as previously “dumbangelical” or “nicolesque”). And your comments are, as always, great!

Well, these are the first 10 songs that come to my mind. It’s not my Top 10 but nearly. Ladies first:
1. ROKIA TRAORÉ Dounia: precious interaction of electric guitars, n’goni (African lute) and the beautiful voice of Rokia, the talented Mali singer that showed in an interview for Rockdelux that she’s very intelligent too, with lucid opinions about the difficult political situation on Africa.
2. THOSE DANCING DAYS Run Run: sshhh, don’t tell nobody, especially to my wife, but I’m in love with the lead singer of this all-girl band. She’s so cute with her curly hair. And she’s got a nice warm voice too. And they’re Swedish! Please, Henrik, I need her phone number. Won’t you get it for me? Or the number of the keyboard player. Or the guitar player…
3. ERYKAH BADU Honey: excellent singer, excellent song and excellent video clip (made for music nerds like us, wouldn’t you like to play to discover how many album covers you recognize?). Moonbeam, I missed this gem in your list.
4. PORTISHEAD The Rip: this disturbing piece of techno-folk (am I allowed to define it like that?) exemplifies the qualities that has turned the last Portishead into a critics-darling.
5. CHRISTINA ROSENVINGE La distancia adecuada: a veteran lady of the Spanish music scene (she began her career in 1980!) that after her NY trilogy of albums, sung in English and recorded with Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley from Sonic Youth, has returned to the lyrics in Spanish with probably her best work. Other recommendable Spanish ladies during 2008 were Russian Red, Klaus & Kinski and Lidia Damunt.

And now the gentlemen:
1. THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS Standing Next to Me: my candidate for song of the year (if nothing within this thread changes my mind). I’ve always been a sucker for British pop, and now there are rough times for this kind of sound. Get in, you’ll get 2 minutes and 20 seconds of pop heaven.
2. SPIRITUALIZED Soul on Fire: Jason Pierce returning to his bizarre gospel hymns after being on the point of death. It’s amazing to see him in the video (at 1’53” waking up from both a frozen landscape and the hospital bed.
3. BON IVER For Emma: the combination of steel guitar and horns elevates this song to dizzy heights. Strategically placed almost at the end of this gloomy album, it’s like the sunrays through the clouds.
4. NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!: both the resurrection of biblical Lazarus as someone called Larry amidst the convulse XXI Century and the resurrection of Nick Cave with his band after the adventure of Grinderman (with a look that in Spain we call “macarra” and someone at You Tube describes as a 70s porn star).
5. ROBERT FOSTER Let Your Light in, Babe: and another veteran to end the list, the ex-Go-Betweens member letting the light in with a delicious ukulele-based melody. The You Tube video is not official.

And a bonus track with someone that I don’t know if putting inside the gentlemen or the ladies group, so I open a new category. HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR Blind: it was obvious but nobody did it previously: the mirror ball and the electronic beats fitted perfectly with the vocal register of Antony Hegarty, even better that the usual theatrical and gloomy way that he/she uses.

About posting songs:
- John, Jonah, Tim or AJackson, if you want to introduce a link to a You Tube video you just have to write [a href="http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=_8YRx47oylM"]Standing Next to Me[/a] but replacing [ by < and ] by > and you will obtain this: Standing Next to Me. You only have to copy and paste the You Tube link between the " (and obviously change the song title). This is an easy way for us all to access to the songs without the problems of embedding directly the videos (pages that takes a lot of time to charge and all that).
- Nicolas, if you have an account on Box.net and you enter directly in your page you can’t embed the song like I did (and I don’t’ know why!). But if you go to http://www.box.net/lite (that is here) you can upload a file from your computer and then you will obtain a code for embedding the song like I did. Hope this could be useful.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

And to add to you, Honorio: If you want to embed a youtube video, not only the link, than you go to that youtube page and copy/paste the embed code that is writen there somewhere, right into the message here.
Like the following video of one of Fleet Foxes' masterpieces Ragged Wood:

And now you know one of my top 5 songs of 2008!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Great, great thread, everyone!

Many of my favourites have already been mentioned (Honorio, you just beat me to it with Rokia Traoré) but here are a few more.

Fleet Foxes - Mykonos Everyone has probably listened to the "Fleet Foxes" album by now, but the "Sun Giant" EP was just as good. In particular this song.

Vampire Weekend - One (Blake's Got a New Face) For me, this is the standout song from Vampire Weekend's self-titled debut album. The intro with its complex drums and simple keyboard notes are the most magic 30 seconds of 2008.

Calexico - Two Silver Trees and Man Made Lake I wonder if Calexico could ever disappoint me. With their rootsy laid-back style (mainly influenced by traditional music from Mexico and the Southwestern US, I think) they are always candy to my ears.

Also, the lack of Portishead's "Machine Gun" earlier in this thread is just because it's too obvious, right?

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Mykonos... I didn't know that the Fleet Foxes...
(Kidding of course)

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

The problem is, I love every single track from the Fleet Foxes s/t album ... and I love Mykonos too ...

Before this thread started, I was planning to nominate 4 of their songs. Mykonos and Ragged Wood are kind of seated, White Winter Hymnal seems obvious to vote as well ... this is gonna be a tough job.

Same problem with the Vampire Weekend album, I adore all tracks. But my favourite tracks are A-Punk and M79.

Tough job indeed ...

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Does it work ?
This is my (very folky) selection for 2008

Découvrez Drive-by Truckers!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

the last track is a bonus, because it is a 2009 song.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Works great!

Very nice embedding, nicolas, this looks very useful for presenting the poll results later.

I've heard the Toumani Diabate album two times now, it takes a bit to get used to it.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

yeah, that's right
It is closer even to classical music than to pop
I mean you need absolute attention.
This instrument is amazing : only one guy playing and it sounds like 2 guitars and a bass !!

The embedding comes from a great French site called Deezer

Have I told you before of this site ? it is better than Songza

Another one : MusicMe

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Please note...I am doing this from work where I'm firewalled so I can't actually validate these links (I'm getting them from a Dogpile search.) If any of these fail to work, let me know and I'll try to find others. Also, they may not be "official" videos but the point is to hear the songs so if it's someone's video collage or Sims movie who cares?

I'm gonna give some love to some more mainstream stuff that I haven't seen mentioned at all...and some tracks that seem to have been missed from folks that aren't on most EOY lists.

Black Kids- Can't believe this spirited "indie" hookfest isn't on more EOY lists. "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You"

Be Your Own Pet- Another one that seems to have missed the EOY radar. "The Kelly Affair"

Dolly Parton- The pain of chasing a married man dripping all over this one. "Cologne"

The Pretenders- Welcome back! "Boots of Chinese Plastic"

Dietrich Haddon- Great R&B/gospel crossover track although I think "Ungrateful" is better (can't find a link for that one). "Love Him Like I Do"

Raconteurs- Again, amazed no one else has this one listed. "Many Shades of Black"

The Afters- Anyone here heard of 'em? Bueller? Bueller? "Never Going Back to OK"

Cyndi Lauper- Lauper attacks clubs with a vengeance. Really nice uptempo track, shoulda been a hit. "Into the Nightlife"

Al Green w/John Legend- Al Green returns intact. "Stay with Me (By the Sea)"

Flobots- Instantly catchy in the Barenaked Ladies "One Week" kinda way but with more substance. "Handlebars"

Miley Cyrus- I'm probably the only one here who still listens to pop at least some of the time. Much as I hate the overmerchandising, this ditty is pretty undeniable, jittery energy front to back. And you have to love that Duane Eddy style twangy guitar at the fade. "See You Again"

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds- The track I seem to keep coming back on the DIG, LAZARUS, DIG! album "More News from Nowhere"

The Hold Steady- Great single, great hook. "Sequestered in Memphis"

Britney Spears- Another pop confection. "Piece of Me"

Rihanna- Retrofits Jacko for the 2000s and reminds you how vital his stuff remains. "Don't Stop the Music"

Hot Chip- Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now... "Ready for the Floor"

Weezer- "Write a hit? OK, suck on THIS!" response from Rivers Cuomo to the label. "Pork and Beans"

Ting Tings- No one's mentioned this yet? "Shut Up and Let Me Go"

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Great list there, Fred. Tempts me to just list my Top 100 and be done with it!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

OK, thanks for the reminder... I think I thought the embedding video wasn't working, but I think I didn't enter the security code to see the preview.

Max Tundra - Which Song

This is probably the neatest discovery from Pitchfork's 100 songs poll. For people with fancy stereo equipment I dare you to turn the treble all the way up and see if your ears explode.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Another (more funky) 2008 selection

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Oh, and let me re-post the first selection I made above in this format, so that the songs can be visible.

Nicolas! How did you do that? Links to songs thing...

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Nicolas. Forget my question. I have created a songs list in Deezer now, so I'm on my way...

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

great ! I didn't know if there was a English version

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Don't forget to desactivate the automatic playing option, or the songs will play everytime one opens the thread page
Test it before you post in the preview section

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

and, btw, deezer is 100 % legal site.
They made deals with the record companies and the playing files cannot be downloaded

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

I think U.S. users are very limited to what can be added on Deezer because I wasn't able to add some artists you did.

I don't think I can embed a Last.FM playlist here but here is my profile and my music player is my best of 2008 playlist (with some notables missing).

http://www.last.fm/user/johnfgillson

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Thanks for a nice thread with a lot of good music. I have added a short playlist with songs i think deserves some extra attention.

Fever Ray is the solo project of Karin Dreijer, one half of The Knife. This is the first single. Album release will be later this year. I can't wait.

The Kings of leon album very uneven. However the opening song "Closer" realy gets to me every time. A simple song which pushes the right buttons.

Destroyer made one good song on this years album and it is acctually a remake from a song made by Swan Lake, Dan Bejars side project. I like the destroyer version a lot better.

Johann Johannsson made a great album this last year and "Melodia (Guidlines to a space propulsion device...)" is the peak.

"The Fix" by Elbow is just one of a couple of good songs on their album "The seldom seen kid".

"Angry" by The Bug is guarranteed to get any party started!

Dance, dance, dance by last years blog favorite Lykke Li is also nice. The version in the clip below is accustic with the backing of Bon Iver.

M83 also deserve some recognision. I could not find the Saturday=youth in Deezer so you get a nice live version of my favorite track "Couleurs"

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

You can add your own mp3s to playlists on Deezer if they don't havethe tracks

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Just a few things that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Beck - Chemtrails
Cut Copy - Feel the Love
Cut Copy - Unforgettable Season
Rhianna - Disturbia
Kanye West - Street Lights
The Postmarks - Slaughter On Tenth Avenue (covers count right?)
The Raveonettes - Blush
Hauschka - Rode Null
The Roots - Rising Up

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

AH!! too many songs!

I liked Chemtrails a lot too. Modern Guilt felt a lot like an afterthought of an album, but hand it to Beck to find another ballad that hints a unique emotional resonance. I wish the Raveonettes would get more attention, too.

And Moonbeam, the first time I was exposed to Duffy was when I watched her perform Mercy on the MTV Europe Music Awards on my newly connected HDTV. This is the performance where the band comes out of some box. Her stage presence was so sleek, poised and hypnotic in a European way, it was hard to notice the song!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Did some cutting and pasting to collect recommended songs, it took a while. Also didn't get the "songlists" in this list. Some names and titles are reversed. Maybe someone else can continue?

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

"This Wind" is the best song of 2008 I think, but that's already been recommended, so I'll just add from the same album "The Gardner" and "Where Do My Bluebirds Fly". Both brilliant as well.

Also, don't forget the Drive-By Truckers and their incredibly gorgeous "Purgatory Line".

I'm currently in love with this 2008 song:
The Decemberists - Valerie Plame

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

And there's nothing wrong with these 2008 songs either (if you'd ask me):

Dengue Fever - Tiger Phone Card (live version)
Nneka - Heartbeat (Nigerian neo-soul)
Morrissey - All You Need Is Me

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

I wanted to share 2 songs but they are not in youtube nore in deezer...
Well, an advice to Moonbeam first :

Puppetmastaz - Boots on the Ground
I think you will like that sort of funny mash-up between Wu Tang Clan and Gwen Stefani.

And a great pop pleasure of the year :

I'm From Barcelona - Headphones

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Before I rest my case and leave you voting for the remaining 6 days, here's some more recommendations for you. Most songs that I nominate have been mentioned already, but these 3 surprisingly not yet:

Elbow - Grounds For Divorce
Santogold - You'll Find A Way
Shearwater - Rooks

And scanning through my current top 100, you might want to consider listening to:

Magnus Moriarty - Wichita Mind Control
Mother Mother - Wrecking Ball
Elbow - One Day Like This
Morrissey - That's How People Grow Up
Ben Folds - You Don't Know Me
Pale Young Gentlemen - The Crook Of My Good Arm

as well.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Andre, The Dengue Fever sounds really good ! Like psychedelic rock meeting Cambodian pop
I had heard a song on the Telerama site and now I've been to their Myspace and every song is great !!
Check this out, guys !

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

None of my earlier links worked so we'll try it with a Deezer playlist (found nearly all of them there):

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

It's funny, nicolas, I see you nominating songs from many artists that I put on my ballot, only different songs.

Here's a fun mashup, if a little repetitive, of 2008 songs. Some might consider it sacrilege.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Amazing result
i've always thought that putting together folk and r&b would give beautiful results. after all, there was a time when those 2 kinds of music were one and the same
And rocky, too bad that we agree on bands u but not on songs....

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Greg Rumpff,

I don't think I can remove single posts, but I think that you can still "customize your exportable player" and tick off Auto-play.

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

something for nicolas..

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Going Up The Country

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

yeah, I've heard it onthe Telerama site, they're great
thanks nj
that song is an old 80-year old man
Can we nominate songs from 1928 ?

Découvrez Henry Thomas!

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

and please Greg Rumpff, do something to stop that automatic playing

Re: AM Pazz & Jop Songs of 2008 - Recommendations

Can we nominate songs from 1928 ?

Sure, why not, although it would look rather strange if it wins the poll and becomes AM's best song of 2008 ...
