As an ex-Detroiter, I too would like to apologize for it. Other than Duffy, it's pretty much worthless.

sometimes, yesr-end lists from newspapers and such end up being part of Pazz-N-Jop, so that has to be kept in mind.

RE the albums- Portishead, Lil Wayne and Coldplay have received a lot of acclaim for 2008- some of the others, not much at all.

Yet another list that factors in volume of popularity to increase marketability.

Girl Talk got a pretty good amount of acclaim too.

I can't stand the implication that anything popular can't be good.

Genius often goes unrecognized by the masses. But it's not an iron-clad rule.

In the USA, Lil' Wayne, Coldplay and Metallica were the only albums on this list to sell more than 1.5m.

I'm not sure who Girl Talk even is.
