As much as I don't like it, Lil Wayne's "Lollipop"
And I know that M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" fared quite well on the 2007 list, but it could pull a "Rehab" and gain a few more end-of-year lists now that it's a hit single.
Portishead will probably have a song as well, perhaps "The Rip" or "Machine Gun"?
And as annoying as it gets after hearing it too much, Madonna & Justin's "4 Minutes" could easily make the top songs of 2008.
I don't get why Lil' Wayne's Mr. Carter wasn't the big single on that album. I don't like Lil' Wayne all that much but that song is awesome.
Do top singles lists usually include singles that came out in the year even though they were on albums the year before? I think they do...
Kanye West- Homecoming and Flashing Lights
Goldfrapp- A E
Madonna- 4 Minutes
Sam Sparro- Black and Gold
Fleet Foxes- White Winter Hymnal
Ladytron- Ghosts (Hopefully, it's my favorite single of the year)
Fat chance even though I love it- Britney Spears- Radar
Viva la Vida will probably score very high. A Millie, too, maybe... I personnally think the song of the year so far is Water Curses by Animal Collective. It is so original, yet accessible and sounds like nothing I have heard. :)
Ive got to agree with VIva la vida ... its so over the world right now it charted in 64 countries by now and its not the end of the yrea yet. its already so 4.5 million copies as a single incredible. coldplay will be remembered fr decades because of this song
