Ladies and gentleman, we've reached the top 50! Sgt. Pepper's: The Song sneaks into the the last spot of the top 50, but the Sgt. Peppers: The Album keeps dwindling. Speaking of dwindling, With the Beatles leaves us this week now that All My Loving is gone.

John, I may not be able to post my votes in the next two survivor cuts as I'll be out of town, but I'd like to participate anyway. If any of the songs above are being eliminated, I would like to fill my list with the songs below.
Here's my pipeline, from worst to best:
Filler #1: Penny Lane
#2: She's Leaving Home
#3: We Can Work It Out
#4: I Will
#5: While My Guitar Gently Weeps
#6: Across the Universe
#7: Paperback Writer
#8: In My Life
I hope this is OK. I want to do everything I can to keep "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" in the game.
5: Come Together
5: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
4: Don't Let Me Down
4: Day Tripper
3: Get Back
3: Revolution
2: Taxman
2: Hard Day's Night, A
1: You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
1: Penny Lane
The most unexpected elimination for me in all this game has happened this cut. That's for my #3 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the only Paul's song in my top 10. It was looking like it would end as the 2nd best Sgt. Pepper's track. But, after all, luckily it at least entered the top 50, in the exactly last spot!
5: For No One
4: Eleanor Rigby
2: In My Life
3: I Feel Fine
1: Golden Slumbers
Hey, making the same exercise I did 2 cuts ago, here we have, if I'm not wrong, the only 6 songs that have survived without having received a unique vote in all of the tournament: Help, A Day in the Life, Strawberry Fields Forever, Helter Skelter (wow!), Here Comes the Sun and Let It Be.
5. I Want You (She's So Heavy)- This is the weakest tune of those still remaining in my opinion. A funky guitar lick isn't enough to save it.
4. End, The- Doesn't stand so well on its own outside the medley.
3. Happiness Is A Warm Gun- Well-executed pastiche I guess but it never really "says" anything to me.
2. You Won't See Me- I debated the last two for awhile and originally had this at 1 point but I had to acknowledge it was only my preference for poppiness shoving it farther up. Musically, "Rain" is more interesting and the hook is almost as good.
1. Rain- I still think this is overrated and gets a pass for having the backwards guitar.
The problem I have with The Beatles is that I found half of the songs great and the other half silly. The same happens with the ones left, so my first votes gonna be easy choices.
5 pts – I will : this songs really doesn’t go anywhere
4 pts - Don't Let Me Down: find it sort of boring.
3 pts – Get Back: I would classify it as "monotonous"
2 pts - I Saw Her Standing There: Most of the “early” Beatles songs sounds all the same to me
1 pt – Yesterday: Overrated
It’s kind of shocking that “I am the Walrus” has already two first choices at this stage . In my view, it has to be one of the most innovative songs John’s ever created (though I have to admit I have a soft spot for trippy songs ).
Here's a question for everyone. Some people thought Free as a Bird and Real Love should have been included. If they were, would you have voted them off already? I'd still have Free as a Bird going strong but Real Love would have been on my list around cut 15 or so.
Dumbangel, "She's Leaving Home" has made it all the way to the top 50 out of over 200 Beatles songs! How is that evidence of "hate"? If we really hated it we would have voted it out long before now.
She's Leaving Home is a perfectly decent song, but to my mind, at this point in the game it sticks out like a sore thumb. So many of the songs left are stone-cold classics, and She's Leaving Home is an album track that doesn't have much in the way of a hook - of course, reasonable people can disagree and all that jazz.
OK, the word "hate" is not appropriate.
But even it's far to be everyone's favourite, I would hope that it would hit the top 30, because among the 50 songs there are still some songs that are not that amazing. Take "Get back" for exemple, it's really a poor song compared to the greatness of most of the Beatles catalog !
I know that many people in this forum are more into Lennon than McCartney and more into rockers than ballads (the early eliminations of "And I love her" and "If I fell"), so it's evident that "She's leaving home" is gonna leave the game soon...
Just remember one thing :
When Brian Wilson was torturing his mind trying to finish his unfinished "Smile" album (until 2004), one day Paul McCartney came in the studio and play to Brian at the piano a song that have made Brian understand that he would loose the competition.
And that song was "She's leaving home".
She's Leaving Home is a great song. I just wish they would have left out the falsetto vocals in the chorus because I find them incredibly grating. Especially when they get to "home". That note is like nails on a chalkboard but it's forgivable with how great the song is. If it wasn't for that falsetto part I might have it in my top 5 as well. Brian Wilson should have been kind enough to tell Paul that he couldn't reach the notes that the Beach Boys could.
5: Ticket to Ride
4: A Hard Day's Night
3: You Won't See Me
2: And Your Bird Can Sing
1: Paperback Writer
And, yes, I love “She’s Leaving Home” too (it’s my #10). The perfect harp + string quartet backing, the interaction between John and Paul voices and specially the moving story of many young people that left heir parents home during the 60s told with careful attention to the details and with genuine understanding to both parts. 10/10 in my opinion.
oh, and in regards to the reunion songs, I would have "Real Love" somewhere in my top 20, and I would have "Free as a Bird" on the edge of the top 50 (at least this top 50...a chunk of my personal faves have already been voted off)
