I listened to "She's a Woman", and realized that although the song has a lot of potential, the recording really is nothing too impressive, and I'm gonna drop 5 points on it this week, five more than I had ever given it.

I also gave another listen to a longtime least favorite of mine, "Love You To" (which I had been sympathizing with a bit lately by noticing it's not as bad as I had remembered), but I've realized that it's still nothing that I would consider a favorite, and so in its first inclusion in my vote, I drop 3 points on it.

I also think that as much as I am not a huge fan of "I Saw Her Standing There" or "Can't Buy Me Love," the songs probably deserve spots in the top 100, and are probably mostly disliked because I have heard them far too many times, so I have dropped them to two points apiece (they would have gotten 5 and 4 points each, respectively, if I wouldn't have done a little shuffle). But on that note, I have room for one more new song this week, and as much as it pains me to put it on the list, because I think it is one of the most important songs in the story of the Beatles, I just cannot listen to the song without wanting to skip to the next one. So, one point this week goes to "I Want to Hold Your Hand"

1: GOOD MORNING GOOD MORNING: While it's true that I generally have more tolerance of the Fab Four missteps attributable to experimentation-gone-wrong over the ones that are byproducts of youthful naivete, I just can't let this farm animal sound collage get a free pass into the next tier of Beatles greatness (ie. the top 100). I'm not sure what it reeks of more: lsd-fuelled studio tomfoolery or just plain old fashioned pretension. At any rate, I've been refraining from voting for any Sgt. Pepper's material up to this point, but the time's come for this one to go.

1: I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE: Full props to McCartney for being a versatile songwriter, and for being able to come off sounding genuine while doing it (well, most of the time at least). This one shuffles right along and sounds quite effortless in the process, and it's pretty evident that Paul Simon took some cues from this song (the melody and harmonies are all over S&G songs). Nothing really against this song -- this one's just a nitpicking vote.

(p.s. Sucks that "Tell Me Why" got the boot this early).
