There are only two more days left (deadline = 25th) to guess the highest new entry into the Mega-Critic-Chart (publication = 30th) and to enter the chance to win that CD.
So far the following guesses are noted :
Mitchell Stirling : Portishead
Sketch and Penguin : Sun Kil Moon
BillAdama : Frightened Rabbit
John : Flight Of The Conchords
Didn´t get noted, as they figured already in last month`s chart :
brennen : Elbow (# 26)
Stephan : Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (# 2)
The following five acts seem to become the highest new entries this month :
Clue to act 1 : a male duo from ohio
Clue to act 2 : a female twin duo from ohio
Clue to act 3 : a male duo from bristol
Clue to act 4 : a trio from bristol
Clue to act 5 : a (now) solo artist from brisbane/australia
Re: Mega-Critic-Competition : Win A CD : The Clues
Hmm ok, I thought it was released this month. Well, I'll go for the safe choice then and pick Portishead. It's not quite as good as Dummy, but I think it'll be received well.
Re: Mega-Critic-Competition : Win A CD : The Clues
The Fuck Buttons CD is pretty good but it has a bit of a catch 22. It requires an attention span to 'get', but the payoff isn't quite good enough for most people to justify the span.
It's one of those CDs that doesn't quite fit into a genre but it's close to a few, so people not a fan of the genre won't accept it for being too close to the genre, and people who are fans of the genre won't accept it for not being close enough.
I've heard terms thrown around like 'Drone for people who don't like drone' and other various knee-jerk pigeonholings. Really it's not nearly as good or bad as anyone says.
Re: Mega-Critic-Competition : Win A CD : The Clues
I don't think he fits the criteria, but I didn't even know he had a new album coming out and it popped up to great reviews so I'm going with the wild card.
