I would have chosen Diddley's thang, but after all: who cares anyway?! Dictator Jockey presents the hottest of the freshest of the day and I'm cheeringly swallowing it
You've all been excellent, if somewhat silent, listeners. All that remains is for me to announce today's best song, and one of the best of the whole 1950s. I'm gonna have to disappoint you Rune, neither of your two favorites made the list, although "I've Got A Woman" came very close. No, the definite winner of today is Chuck Berry. It's his first single, and his second best, and it has stood the test of time perfectly. Whoever said pre-1965 music sucked must not have heard this. To quote myself in the first week of bracketology: "There's school, there's women and there's cars; [this is] thé rock & roll song". And to quote Rolling Stone magazine: "Rock and roll guitar starts here".
Chuck Berry performed this song live in a French show in 1965, and the presenter literally runs off. And he should, because Chuck Berry was coming. Go Chuck Berry, go!

Would anybody mind if I do 56 tonight? I didn't realize 56 would be on a Saturday: A Saturday where I'm going to be gone most of the day. I can do it later to let everybody appreciate 55.
somehow it seems that I still might speak on the behalf of those who captured the voices of nicolas, henrik, stephan, rune or stammer... so do your thing, john. there's at least one person still alive who's scheduling tremors like these. aka/the fascination, 2.8.
I missed the show today, but I'm glad to see one of the songs I was rooting, "The Great Pretender," fare so well. The other was "Let's Get Lost" by Chet Baker, but there's no good video of that one anyway.
And we're back! This is Johnny Thunders coming at you with the sounds of 1956. Invasions all over the world, boycotts of the Olympics but I'm still here bringing you what the kids are calling rock 'n roll my babies and I'm not just giving you a sampling, I'm giving you the best of the best, the cream of the crop, the top 10.
I'll start you off with a little Tutti Frutti coming in at #10.
But we're not all rock and roll here on WWAM! No, we like us some country too. Here's Johnny Cash with his hit Walk the Line coming in at #9 on your top ten countdown!

And to end it all off, I'll leave you with two we've heard before. Thanks kiddies, this is Johnny Thunders signing off for now. Sorry, I couldn't fit in the requests for all the Elvis songs! See you in a few years!
For my fellow DJ in 1957 I suggest you start a new part 2 thread because it's kind of hard navigating through two pages.

So sorry but I got a very busy week (and weekend too, including yesterday and today), only got enough free time on afternoon and evening on Thursday. Can I book 1961 for Thursday?
We are, so feel free. I was gonna offer to do it if nobody wanted to after today but I think it's more fun if as many different people participate as possible.
I was away the last few days so just getting caught up. Great shows everybody and glad to see you giving the "man in black" his just dues, John. I'm sure that's great with everybody Paul and then I'll have 1958 covered.
I like this game. Although I would vote for keeping the rules exactly the way they are. I you allow re-entries then it just turns into that persons top ten. This is a good idea!
