Re: Local Record Store

What are your musical tastes?

(You put Feist twice, by the way.)

Re: Local Record Store

How do you know what the record store just got in?

You should buy an Elliott Smith album, by the way. Everybody needs one.

Re: Local Record Store

IMO, there are only four great ROCK bands in America right now. The only one on this list is Drive-By Truckers. Southern Rock Opera's not their best, but it's as good a place to start as any.

Re: Local Record Store

Sinder Velvin: Well I like every artist in the top 60, and I'm hoping they still have "The Joshua Tree", "War", "The Complete Robert Johnson Vol 2" and "Daydream Nation" when I get there.

(I didn't make the list it's from a newsletter they send out by e-mail, good store www.vertigorecords.ca)

Rune: See above, newsletter

I've never even heard Smith before, guess I'm gonna have to give him a listen. The site says Either/Or is his best so I'll check it out.

Re: Local Record Store

Greg: Who are the other 3?

Re: Local Record Store

Queens of the Stone Age
The Hold Steady
Mastodon

Re: Local Record Store

That Arcade Fire album's pretty awesome.

Re: Local Record Store

jonmarck: I picked up Funeral a few weeks ago and still haven't even unwrapped it

Re: Local Record Store

Both albums by The Velvet Underground are really good.

Re: Local Record Store

Sinder Velvin: I was thinking those two, I have two VU compilations on CD and VU & Nico on vinyl, love all three. They get so much good stuff it's hard to decide.

Re: Local Record Store

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
excellent record, not for every one but you should try

Re: Local Record Store

nicolas: Is it anything like Blood Money? It's the only one of his I have it's pretty good.

Re: Local Record Store

it's both more experimental and more roots but to me it is much better !
there are great songs

Re: Local Record Store

Well I'm off, I'll report in in about an hour

Re: Local Record Store

K, back, got the following:

Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
Led Zeppelin - IV
U2 - The Joshua Tree

Re: Local Record Store

Decent choices...

Re: Local Record Store

Midaso: You don't seem to happy, is there some you dislike or you just don't like the choices overall?

Re: Local Record Store

Well, you asked for advice and didn't take any of it...

Re: Local Record Store

Maybe he'll go back, and set things right!
