Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Fantastic Top 10. Only “Loveless” is an album that in my opinion could be filed under “overrated”. As I said before our list is any bit as good as any other from a "real" publication. And the format was awesome. Many many thanks Henrik for that wonderful Sunday.

Next stop: The 100 Best albums ever!!!

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Wish you all a good afternoon (US) and night (Europe).

Gonna watch the DVD "What the bleep do we know?" now. Not sure if there is any (good) music in there ... if so, I'll let you know.

Cheers!

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Excellent ranking, albeit somewhat expected. Great job Henrik, I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

OK Computer was my #2, and I think its safe to say that it more than deserved to be #1 in this poll.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Thank you all for participating! It's been a great weekend for me, with so many of you following the countdown.

Thanks also for all well-crafted comments and the good taste of yours.

Good night!

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Thanks Henrik, it was a great fun doing this list (my first one !) and I've discovered many great albums thanks to this. Well, it seems that my tastes fits neither to critics nore to the forum tastes if I believe your calculations, but it is really enjoyable to find people who loves music that much (and to see that I'm not the only one who does not enjoy much Bjork and Primal Scream)

Can this list (and the futur 100 all time album list) be taken into account into the AM ranking ? Because in a way, we are as serious as any magazine writers and some of you could probably give "modern history music" lessons to many of them.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to listen "69 love songs" since it's the highest ranked album I don't know.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Although it is a great list, I don't think it should (or will be) included, since it's essentially still a regular poll. One among people with a more extensive knowledge than usual polls, but no critic list.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Not a surprising top 3. Most of my favorites other than the top 3 (Which are like my #1, #2, and #5) are in the 30's or something.

I'm always surprised to see Blue Lines as high as it gets. #6 on this list, #25 all time on the AM list.

It's a good album, but I prefer Mezzanine, and 25th all time?!

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Cheers Henrik for putting together this fascinating and beautifully compiled list.
Up until the final three, this poll threw up some real surprises. 22 different albums were selected as the 90s best-including 3 rap albums, 3 Pavement albums and the two lowest placed albums, but not including The Bends, AFTP, Odelay, Blue Lines or The Soft Bulletin.
Given this apparent electicism in musical taste, I have to say I'm left slightly dissapointed by the final 3. There was a greater disparity in the points scored between the top four than between numbers 4-100. Also, one in three people polled voting for the same favourite seems statistically bizarre in an area as crazily subjective as music appreciation.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

I'm just going to add my kudos to Henrik for the impressive list. My power was out today for about six hours, so I didn't get to follow it live. But catching up was fun.

Glad to see three of my top five in the top three positions, and my other two top five albums made the top 20. WTG.

P.S. I think Harold and Greg must be really smart guys.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Well as I expected,my #1s in both singles and album polls,Common people and OK Computer, won the contest...

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

I wonder if Henrik could hang an Excel with all votes

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

Henrik -

This has been a blast. Thanks so much.

After you have gotten some well-deserved rest, could you post the correlation figures for all of the voters? I'm very curious to see what my coefficient is, and where it falls in connection with the rest of the voters. (I'd do it myself when you post the full chart, if I knew the first thing about statistics.)

Also, for the correlation figures that you have posted, is that just for the album poll, or for both the song and album poll?

Again, lots of fun... thanks so very much.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

A spreadsheet including all votes and the correlation table will be posted soon. The correlations given somewhere above in this thread are for albums only. Your may have another "single friend".

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

OK who made the wise crack about not knowing the difference between Suede and Travis? That's like saying you can't tell the difference between Bowie and the Vaselines. Britpop and most british 90s scenes like shoegazing got such a bad rap and yet Depeche Mode still ends up ranking higher than most britpop acts. That's obsurd. How could you even compare Depeche Mode and all those cheesy 80s generic bands to the british guitar bands of the 90s? The only exceptions would be MBV and the Cocteau Twins. MBV isn't nearly as gifted as their influences like the Cocteaus, the House of Love, the Charmeleons, the Primitives, J&MC or Loop. It was awesome to see Ride in the top 100 though. Pound for pound the greatest band of the 90s.

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

so you'd better love your shoes then

Re: The top 100 albums from the 1990s - the final results, page 1

I'm just bumping this to make it easier to compare with the all-time list. And also to say that I think it deserves a sticky.
