Soundtracks from documentaries and concert films were disallowed—so, f’rinstance, no Stop Making Sense.
It’s a decent list. It won’t qualify for inclusion in the AM album rankings, because many of these soundtracks are compilations—which makes the list kind of an odd grab-bag; some are original (Purple Rain) some are compilations (Pulp Fiction), and some are a little of both (Rock ‘n’ Roll High School).
And there are a few howlers. Grease and Top Gun are goddamned jokes, to be honest, and a few of these soundtracks seem to be here because of one song (Midnight Cowboy, American Gigolo). And where, oh where, is Grosse Pointe Blank?
No, Anthony, for me it's: "I'm all right/don't nobody worry 'bout me/why you got to give me a fight?/why don't you just let me be?" Good old Kenny Loggins...
(You know a Caddyshack trivia game just came out? I'm gonna drink a lot of beer with my high school buddies playing that one...) (Yes, I have my neanderthal side.)
You gotta be kidding me. I’d be blitzed within the first ten minutes, and probably passed out shortly thereafter. Granted, I’d be drinking Canadian beer...
My favourite one is "Almost famous". Amazing album.
Some others I like a lot :
Air - "Virgin Suicides"
Jon Brion - "I love huckabees"
V/A - "Pulp fiction"
