That's a fun list, but it HAS to be based on sales or airplay or some other index of popularity, rather than being a critic's (or critics') list. I can't really see any critic completely excluding, say, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, but putting the Singing Nun, Paul & Paula, and "Sukiyaki" in the top ten...

Nice to see Allan Sherman, though!

It's based on sales. The next year had over twenty hits by British bands, you know who had 10 of them, The Stones, The Kinks and the Animals also heading the list. I still consider that the bigesst change on the charts in the rock era. Though many of those songs were recorded in 63. You know America and Canada took a year to catch on.
