I'll try to find a map generator because a map should be really great
If one of you can help me with this or produce their own map, please feel welcome
sorry for the double post... just wondering, our ages are evenly distributed, we're evenly distributed throughout the world, but... how many girls do we have posting here?
Moeboid raises an interesting question. This sort of facination with rankings seems to be a very male thing. Don't know why that is. Do we have any women here at all?
I don't think so
Like Mike said, it's a man thing to love rock and lists
I have a (girl) friend I just showed the site too, she found it interesting but didn't come back to it after
and she's a real music lover
BUt the statistics things frightened her
My wife is not interested at all. she says to our friends that I found guys that seem to share the same mental illness
i didn't expect there to be any women here. i can't quite put my finger on the reason why. i'm not entirely comfortable with simply calling this website "a man thing". i've thought about why i post here, and none of my reasons are gender specific. i don't think, as someone else pointed out, that women are as much into lists and i'll hesitantly go as far as saying music also. i don't think it's because they're women though. i'd be much more willing to blame society...
It's a difficult subject, and any dialogue we might have about it (since we all have Y chromosomes) is gonna be limited.
But I don't think it's interest in music per se; I think the desire to list, to catalogue and organize and include and exclude, is a stereotypically masculine urge. I had precisely the same experience nicolas had when I showed this site to my wife (who is a musician and music fan)--a combination of mild interest and bemusement.
To risk a general statement, males are traditionally more interested in hierarchy--which, by the way, I think is destructive in most aspects of life (politics, economics, religion, education...). However, I think that lists of the greatest music or movies or athletes are a relatively harmless manifestation of that...
schleuse
You summed it up very well.
it's a male thing but in a very special way : it's not a male stereotype
Maybe we are the only all-male forum which is not about cars or ass...
The way I talk ?
Sorry, but as I've often said before, my english is not very well.
My name ?
"Dumbangel", if you don't know, is a reference to the "Smile" album of the Beach Boys, just like your name is a reference to the worst song of the Beatles on their "White album" .
Actually, I'm 7.
And I'm not sure about the White Album reference, I've never heard that album. I just really like the movies about the boxer and the cute little nocturnal creatures.
rocky raccoon
because of you the average will seriously drop
and about geography, are you from outer space ?
(me i'm several centuries old, but keep it a secret)
Oh, I thought only the age of our current lifetime would count. With previous lives included, I easily get to a couple of centuries as well ... not to mention if we would also include non-human lives
So, no (bashed) germans and no women currently on this forum. Well, my wife is german-canadian, I could ask her to make some valuable statements here?
