Album Of The Week: The Verve-Urban Hymns

The Verve is back recording again. I guess Richard Ashcroft had enough of his solo career. Should be interesting to see if they recapture 1997's Urban Hymns glory days.

Loved it from first listen.

Amazing album, I can just listen to Bittersweet Symphony all day, and the rest of the songs are, almost all, great. I dislike a few although I don't know which ones right now.

Re: Album Of The Week: The Verve-Urban Hymns

An amazing album of the brit-pop era (albeit at the tale end of it...)

Bittersweet Symphony is a classic, but songs like Sonnet, The Drugs Don't Work, and Weeping Willow show the true songwriting talent of Richard Ashcroft.

Favorite album moment: guitar solo at 3:51 of The Rolling People.

Re: Album Of The Week: The Verve-Urban Hymns

It's a very good brit-pop album. "Sonnet" is amazing.
But as a whole I prefer the album "A northern soul", great from start to finish.

Heard it once, liked it, but never had the urge to listen again. 7/10
