Glad to see Runrig included. Their best work may have been a while ago, but Heartland is an album I keep returning to (and without them there would hardly be any Big Country).
Based on my album ratings, this is my personal Scottish top 10:
1. Belle and Sebastian
2. Cocteau Twins
3. The Waterboys
4. Teenage Fanclub
5. Travis
6. Simple Minds
7. Primal Scream
8. Franz Ferdinand
9. The Blue Nile
10. Boards Of Canada
NB: Never heard anything from Camera Obscura ... yet.
How is Orange Juice #24? That's crazy and also sad that such a great band isn't even respected in their own country... especially since the poll shows that they weren't exclusively voting for new acts.
Belle and Sebastian @ #1 is awesome but the Cocteaus and the Mary Chain are ranked way too low. I knew Snow Patrol were Irish. Poeple kept insisting they were Scottish so I just went with the crowd and assumed they were Scottish. I'd even put Camera Obscura in my top 5. To me they sound more like the Sundays than Belle and Sebastian but these days every indie band is trying to sound like Belle and Sebastian. Watch any Target commercial and you'll see what I'm talking about. Since B&S is #1 it's only logical to have their biggest influences, Orange Juice and the Vaselines in the top 10 as well.
1 Delgados – one of the most undervalued bands of the past ten years.
2 Orange Juice
3 Blue Nile
4 Aztec Camera
5 Boards of Canada
6 Mogwai
7 Vaselines
8 Big country
9 Cocteau twins
10 Arab strap

12 Teenage Fanclub
13 The Pastels
14 Primal Scream
15 Jesus and Mary Chain3
I think Deacon Blue may well be the worst band of all time.
Here's my ranking
1. Cocteau Twins

4. Trashcan Sinatras
5. Camera Obscura
6. Mull Historical Society
