Re: Christmas on Acclaimed Music

Daniel, you left off the greatest of all rock and roll Christmas songs: Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" from the Spector album, currently at #2206 on the song list. And don't forget, also, the Pretenders' "2000 Miles" at #2641.

I Can't Believe...

that Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" isn't on the site! But, I guess holiday songs don't fare all that well, overall, on best-of features.

Re: Christmas on Acclaimed Music

Here are some other songs that surprise me aren't included on Acclaimed Music (aside from Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"):

"Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby Helms
"Blue Christmas" by Elvis Presley
"A Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives
"Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt
"Feliz Navidad" by José Feliciano
"Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy" by David Bowie/Bing Crosby
"Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" by Bruce Springsteen
"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams
"Last Christmas" by Wham!
"All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey
"The Chipmunk Song" by the Chipmunks
"Merry Christmas, Darling" by the Carpenters
"Little Saint Nick" by the Beach Boys
"Step Into Christmas" by Elton John
"Merry Xmas Everybody" by Slade
"Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses
"Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney
"Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow" by Vaughn Monroe, or Dean Martin
"Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra
"Please Come Home for Christmas" by Charles Brown, or the Eagles
"It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" by Johnny Mathis
"Little Drummer Boy" by Harry Simeone Chorale

"(There's No Place Like) Home for the Holidays" by Perry Como
"Run Rudolph Run" by Chuck Berry
"Lonely This Christmas" by Mud
"The Chanukah Song" by Adam Sandler

Re: Christmas on Acclaimed Music

All pale in comparison to George Winston's December, which sadly isn't included here.

Re: Christmas on Acclaimed Music

When I was a kid I used to think Last Christmas by Wham! was sung by a woman. I was devastated when i found out it was poofter boy George Michael.

Re: Christmas on Acclaimed Music

Possible addition: "Cry of a tiny babe" by Bruce Cockburn. Preferably the obscure live version where he is duetting with none less than Lou Reed. Great fun to hear Lou sing a Christmas hymn of sorts :-)
