Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

The lowest ranked album received only 139 points, while the highest ranked 254. This makes this list a little accidental, as in some cases two votes were enough to make it. There were many ties. Whenever that happened I gave the nod to the album with more votes. If two or more albums were tied on both points and votes I ranked them ex aequo. Enjoy!

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Very cool list thus far!

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

I have 18 albums in the top 101-200. This looks good for the top 100...
A very nice mix of old and new, white and black, pop and alternative, even some jazz. There are a lot of albums that I really like, but had to put aside. The biggest surprise must be Janet Jackson (3 albums!), I wonder if Control will be among the 100. And Ray of Light and Like a Prayer at 101 and 107, poor JR!

Jacek, were there any albums that missed the top 200 cut despite several votes (all in the lower end of the personal lists)?

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

19 of mine in so far. Glad I could help get Serge Gainsbourg, De La Soul, Curtis Mayfield, The Zombies, Can, and Sly and the Family Stone up there.

I really thought Sign 'o' the Times would be in the Top 100, though!

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Yeah, the list is very eclectic, this goes for the top 100 as well. Actually, aside from one major quibble, I am very excited with how it turned out. As for your question, Henrik, all albums with multiple votes made the list, but "Deserter's Songs" can blame its luck: it received 8 votes, but ended at a meager 173.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Any timetable on the unveiling of 1-100, Jacek?

(It's very hard to wait )

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

It looks like everybody wants a countdown, so I have no option but to cater to the public demand. I will post ten albums a day starting tomorrow evening.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

10 a day???

I don't know if I can hold out...

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Good list, I think 15 albums from my list appeared so far. I'm especially pleased someone else voted for XTC and The Go-Betweens!

it's all good, Henrik. Good thing is I probably wasn't the only one of the 23 to have those on my list. ;)

I had 3 Janet Jackson albums on my list, so I helped her, too. :)

What's sort of shocking is the "low" ranking for Sign O' the Times!

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Cool list so far, although I'm disappointed 1999 isn't in the top 100. 12 of my albums made the list so far.

Oh, and count me in for the Janet and Madonna albums, aside from the overrated janet.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Good job, Jacek
10 a day is fine. That'll make me hurry to the office for 10 consecutive days :-)

Actually, I Think I Had 4 Janet Albums...

on my list. She's one my fave female acts.

I can't see another Madonna album finishing higher than Ray of Light and Like a Prayer, so I gess that's all for the Big M in this poll. Prince likely will have some, but, again, slight stunner that Sign O'... is where it's at.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

It sounds like we all feel a bit sorry for Sign 'O' the Times. The album is just outside my personal top 100 list.

Sign o' the Times

It ranked number 3 for me.

I had a whopping 13 Prince albums in my top 100.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

It was my highest Prince album, at No. 27. I wonder where Purple Rain will end up?

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

It's a surprise for me that any Springsteen album ("Born to Run", "Darkness ..." and especially "The River") have reached the top 100. Maybe "Nebraska"?

Born in the USA...

was on my list, so maybe we'll see it in the top 100.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

Looks like half of my top 20 stranded in this region. Most surprising: The Who's Live at Leeds ans even more Eno's Another Green World, which is as acclaimed as you'll get em. Anyway, this looks like it will make a good list and at least people can see Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Mr and Mrs Thompson standing here.

Re: Acclaimed Music Forum top albums 101-200

LOL! Not surprisingly, only about 5 of the albums were on my list (2 Janet albums, a Stevie album, RAY OF LIGHT, and PARACHUTES).
