Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" will be my first pick. I'm not sure about anything else yet, but that I know.

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

Fuck, so many I want to nominate. Anyone nominating Exuma and Ces Gens-Là? Also, I've been championing The Tallest Man on Earth enough, so I'll forgo nominating him.. Anyway, I'll probably go with this top 10:

Jackson C. Frank - Jackson C. Frank
Fela Kuti - Zombie
John Fahey - Fare Forward Voyagers (Soldier's Choice)
The Antlers - Hospice
Jorge Ben - A Tábua de Esmeralda
James Carr - You Got My Mind Messed Up
Judee Sill - Heart Food
Charlie Parker - Jazz at Massey Hall (despite being a compilation, really)
Little Feat - Dixie Chicken
Thelonious Monk - Monk's Music

And as non-bubbling under:
Betty Davis - Nasty Gal

Are those all eligible? Also, I'm appalled Dillard & Clark's The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark isn't even bubbling under.

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

If Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport does not reach the final round of the 00s, it will be one of my top picks.
And since I like picking albums that stand no chances, I will add Animal Collective - Feels.

I will also pick Hot Chip - The Warning most likely, though I'm surprised I did not pick it on the previous poll. (or did I ?)

Also very likely :
Queens of the Stone Age - Rated R
Spank Rock - Yoyoyoyoyo

And if non bubbling albums are allowed :
IAM - L'école du Micro d'Argent, best French album ever for me.

Hospice was in Moderate 2. I believe the rest are eligible.

This, however, would not be eligible if we choose to impose any "top artist" restriction. Any thoughts on this, anyone?

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

Ok. I'll probably nominate Seamonsters by The Wedding Present and Emergency & I by The Dismemberment Plan, but beyond that I'm not sure.

How can anyone like this record? Maybe Spotify hasn't got the right songs? Indeed it is the sound of an error...

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and Scott 3 have appeared before. I believe Call The Doctor was in the first one but I don't remember whether it lost in the first round, so it may be eligible.

Henrik said this year's update would only be a songs update.

Kiss Me3 will be eligible since it was a first round KO in MA1. Call The Doctor is not eligible (made it to round 2). Scott 3 is not eligible as it was in the last MA (2).

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

Not sure about these, but I consider them probable (if they are eligible):

500-1000
Todd Rundgren / A Wizard, A True Star
Yes / Fragile

1000-1500
Rolling Stones / Tattoo You
Foo Fighters / The Colour and the Shape

1500-2000
Chicago / Chicago Transit Authority
Todd Rundgren / Todd

2000-2500
Allman Brothers / Brothers and Sisters
Cat Stevens / Teaser and the Firecat

2500-3000
Blink 182 / Enema of State
Santana / Supernatural

BU
Todd Rundgren / Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren
Joe Jackson / Body and Soul

NR
Todd Rundgren / Hermit of Mink Hollow
Doobie Brothers / The Captain and Me

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

Two of those were in BMA1 but lost in the first round, I believe all of those are eligible.

Though, there is a rule that the same person can't nominate two albums by the same artist, so you'll have to pick one Todd Rundgren album.

Re: The 'Get a head start on moderate listening' thread

It looks like the first round of foreign world cup is going to take 32 weeks, but it's only eight songs a week, so no need to wait for that to get this going.

Just please leave a big gap of time between bracket reveal and voting.

New timeline for Moderately Acclaimed 3:
Dec. 5th - Jan. 8th: Nomination process
Week of Jan. 9th: Bracket revealed
March 5th: First week of Moderately Acclaimed 3 begins

That leaves almost 2 months between reveal and voting. I'll get the particulars firmed up by this weekend.
