Week 25 sees us move to bracket W4, which features songs that won each of their first 3 matches. The winners will move on to bracket W5 (and a guaranteed spot in the top 6), while the losers will duke it out in bracket L6.
Please listen to the songs before making your choice, and provide comments (however brief) to form the basis of your pick.
The deadline for Week 25 is 11:59 PM, November 27th AM time.
You can read the descriptions of why these songs were nominated in the rules thread.
It is absolutely devastating that 2 of my all-time Top 10, "Sinnerman" and "The Electrician", have to go against each other, while relatively mediocre tracks like "Flight of the Pelican", "Homme", and "Hilly Fields" stand a good chance of moving on. That hurts.
Match W4.1:
Lal Waterson & Oliver Knight - "Flight of the Pelican"
Both of these tracks are out of their league now, I like Pelican a bit more.
Match W4.2:
The Verlaines - "Death and the Maiden"
Very good song. "Hilly Fields" has lost its charm for me.
Match W4.3:
The Walker Brothers - "The Electrician"
Almost impossible -- never thought I would have to vote against Nina Simone in anything, especially her greatest epic. But I nominated "The Electrician", and I have to stand by that masterpiece.
Match W4.4:
Curtis Mayfield- "Right on for the Darkness"
Not. Even. Close. I nominated Curtis, this is his best track, and my #2 of all time. Just an incredible mix of creeping funk and glorious neo-classical strings.
Brazilian Girls - "Homme" beats Lal Waterson & Oliver Knight - "Flight of the Pelican"
Going in I thought I was going to give it to "Fligh of the Pelican," which has a nice interplay between the vocal and guitar. But relistening to Brazilian Girls was even better than the previous times. FOr some reason, the groove sounded groovier.
Match W4.2:
The Verlaines - "Death and the Maiden" beats Nick Nicely - "Hilly Fields"
I really have come to like "Death and the Maiden" a lot.
Match W4.3:
Nina Simone - "Sinner Man" beats The Walker Brothers - "The Electrician" - Both are overwrought but performed by compelling vocalists. Nina is more so.
Match W4.4:
Curtis Mayfield- "Right on for the Darkness" beats Nirvana - "Do Re Mi" - Blow out of the week.
I'll vote Flight of the Pelican and Sinner Man, because I don't remember all of these completely well, but I remember those are the two best in the game.
Moonbeam, is the bracket set so W4.3 meets W4.4? That would be a shame, as I think "Sinnerman" and "Right on for the Darkness" are 2 of the favorites right now.

Yes, that's how it is set! The loser of that matchup could still make the final again through the loser's bracket, though.
