http://www.metacritic.com/publication/rolling-stone?filter=albums&page=18 mid page 19 all the way to mid page 55, nothing but 3.5 star reviewed albums and that's just in the last dozen year. To me when RS gives anything a 3.5 rating I just assume they maybe listened to half the record at most.
I tend to think it means, they looked at the band name, noticed it wasn't from somebody who was popular 30 years ago, then spilled their arthritis medicine.
