Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

I am popular!

Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
Radiohead
OutKast
Prince
Bruce Springsteen
R.E.M.
Nirvana

Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

Beatles
Dylan
BAH. My two favorites left in the competition against each other.
Radiohead
And my two favorites from the 90's on.
Outkast
Prince
The Clash
REM
Pixies
Crap. Pixies and Nirvana are going to split each others' votes, and open the door for the Beasties, aren't they?

Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

Reviving my idea from UMT 1:

The Beatles vs. Led Zeppelin
Favorite Album: Led Zeppelin IV (#1 all time)
Favorite Song: Stairway to Heaven (#3 all time)
Honorary mentions: Abbey Road (Top 5), Revolver (Top 20), Led Zeppelin II (Top 30), Strawberry Fields Forever (top 10), Black Dog (Top 20)
Edge: Led Zeppelin
One of three that gets the nod over the Beatles for me.

Rolling Stones vs. Bob Dylan
Favorite Album: Sticky Finger (Top 10)
Favorite Song: Satisfaction (top 10)
Honorable mentions: Highway 61 Revisited (top 10), Bringing it all Back Home (top 10), Let it Bleed (top 30), Mr. Tambourine Man (top 2)
Edge: The Stones
Very close, both are great, this one may come down to the last vote.

Radiohead vs. The White Stripes
Favorite Album: OK Computer (Top 50)
Favorite Song: Too close to call between Seven Nation Army, Karma Police, Electioneering and Paranoid Andriod
Edge: Radiohead
Although I'm not a Radiohead fanatic like many on the forum, they're still pretty good. This was close, though.

Blur vs. Outkast
Favorite Album: Stanokania (top 100)
Favorite song: B.O.B. (top 100)
Honorable mentions: Hey Ya! (Top 150), Song 2 (Top 150)
Edge: Outkast
The closest thing to a blowout (except for the last matchuP) in my opinion.

Prince vs. Michael Jackson
Favorite Album: Thriller (top 30)
Favorite song: Beat it (top 30)
Honorable mentions: Purple Rain (top 50), Bad (top 50), When Doves Cry (Top 50)
Edge: MJ
This was an interesting matchup. Two pop icons of the 80's facing off. One will has the popularity in the "pop chart" people, the other has the popularity in the acclaimed/audiophiles. This one was very tough for me (sorry Moonbeam)

Bruce Springsteen vs. the Clash
Favorite album: Born in the USA (Top 10)
Favorite song: Dancing in the Dark (Top 50)
Honorable mentions: Glory Days (top 50), Should I Stay o Should I Go (top 100), Rock the Casbah (top 100), The Rising (Top 150)
Edge: The Boss
I bought London Calling a few weeks ago, I need to listen to it a few more times before I make a judgement on it. Either way, Springsteen wins.

U2 vs. R.E.M.
Favorite Album: Automatic for the People (top 30)
Favorite song: Sunday Bloody Sunday (top 20)
Honorable mentions: War (top 40), The Joshua Tree (top 50), Desire (Top 100), Mysterious Ways (Top 100), Radio Free Europe (Top 150), Drive (Top 150), The One I Love (top 100)
Edge: U2
Like MJ vs. Prince, this matchup we have the most drastic AM/Email splits. It was pretty close, however.

Pixies vs. The Beaties Boys vs. Nirvana
Favorite Album: In Utero (top 10)
Favorite song: All Appologies (top 50)
Honorable mentions: Doolittle (top 30), Heart Shaped Box (top 100), Debaser (top 100)
Edge: Nirvana
First off, how the hell did the Beastie Boys tie with Nirvana? Second off, this matchup (Nirvana vs. Pixies) also happened in UMT 1. If I recall, Nirvana won the battle of master vs. apprentice. Either way, I hope they both destroy the greatly inferior Beasties.

Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

No right or wrong answer to any of these, really.

Beatles
Stones
Radiohead
Blur
MJ
Clash
Nirvana

Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

The Beatles
Bob Dylan
Radiohead
Outkast
Prince
Springsteen
R.E.M.
Pixies

Surprisingly easy choices, though I do feel bad for the Clash and the Stones.

Re: UMT2: Sweet (17)

Prince
Michael Jackson: That's a gigantic drop from 1st to 2nd here.
U2
The Clash
Nirvana
Radiohead
The Beastie Boys
OutKast
Blur
The White Stripes
The Rolling Stones: If these guys really were my favorite of the 60s, I'd write off the whole decade.
Bruce Springsteen
Bob Dylan
R.E.M.
Pixies
Led Zeppelin: I feel dirty, Part 2. I can't believe I've had to resort to voting for these guys.
The Beatles
