Re: UMT2: 3rd round / #6

A lot of disagreements today, Moonbeam...I don't think that's usually the case.

Indeed! I think you're among my top 10 most compatible on RYM.

Re: UMT2: 3rd round / #6

#1 Bruce Springsteen - Parallel Line is one of my big rediscoveries of the past year. But Springsteen still moves me more.
#3 Al Green - When I hear the devotion that many people speak of Joy Division with, I really wonder what I'm missing.
#4 Curtis Mayfield - Costello is good, Mayfield is great.
#2 Queen
#1 Elton John
#2 Ramones
#5 Big Star - I'm not sure this is the right vote. But since the Clash will move on I'll trumpet my love for Big Star here. It couldn't possibly be that the Clash and Big Star will split votes and Genesis will sweep the e-mailers, could it?
#2 Lou Reed

#1 Bruce Springsteen
#3 Al Green
#1 Elvis Costello

Re: UMT2: 3rd round / #6

#1 Bruce Springsteen
#2 Joy Division
#1 Elvis Costello (Damn it.)
#2 Queen
#1 Elton John (Early Elton is very underrated, he's become a caricature but I've always tried to not hold that against anyone. Not even MJ.)
#2 Ramones (One-trick ponies, the Ramones' trick is a little better)
#1 The Clash
#2 Lou Reed

Re: UMT2: 3rd round / #6

Yes, Henrik, I’m actually much more in sync with Moonbeam today. I didn’t realize you felt badly about disagreeing…

BLONDIE. I’m done voting for Bruce, unless he somehow runs into Tom Petty down the line. Blondie was a brilliant band.

JOY DIVISION. I really shouldn’t be pissing off a man of the cloth this close to the rapture, but this was a fairly easy call.

ELVIS COSTELLO. Another easy, if painful choice.

Pass on Queen vs. Tom Petty.

ELTON JOHN. I don’t think I’ve voted against an artist twice and then picked him in the third round, as I’m doing with Elton. But, although I don’t think Elton really belongs at this level, Rod must be stopped.

RAMONES. There’s going to be an AM/email split on this one…

THE CLASH. They don’t run into serious competition for another three or four rounds…

LOU REED

Re: UMT2: 3rd round / #6

1 guess what ? Springsteen
2 Al Green (halfway between Otis and Marvin)
3 Curtis (for some reason I could never get EC)
4 Tom Petty
5 2 of my teenage idols.. I'll go for Rod
6 Eagles (lol am I the only one ? Henry maybe ?) they were my teenage heroes, but then I met millions of people that hated Eagles, but I still love "Hotel California"
7 The Clash (Pete Gab Genesis is great though)
8 Lou Reed

Re: UMT2: 3rd round / #6

#1 Bruce Springsteen (very tempted to go with Blondie)
#3 Al Green
#4 Curtis Mayfield (Wow, tough having to vote against EC. If he went up against Bruce he would've won)
#2 Queen (I have to vote against Elvis Costello, and then choose between Queen and Tom Petty?!?)
#1 Elton John
#2 Ramones
#4 Genesis (the 18-yo prog fanatic in me just emerged)
#2 Lou Reed (I don't really like Lou solo much, but cannot ever vote for Aerosmith)
