#3 Roxy Music: And another, although given the tepid reception of Roxy here, I think they'll lose.
#1 The Cure: Easy for me, and I love Pretenders.
#3 Sex Pistols: Easy yet again. AC/DC is horrible to my ears.
#1 Michael Jackson: Cakewalk.
#3 Kraftwerk: The 8th easy choice today.

Six of these artists are among my top 30 artists.

The 70s region usually seems to be full of easy choices, and so it is today.

PRINCE. Slick, have we had a 100%-0% vote in the UMT this time? I don’t remember one, but this seems like a good candidate.

Passing on John vs. the Dan. Sorry about that, but then I’m sorry we’ve got such a weak third-round pairing.

TALKING HEADS. David B. sang about alienation and mundanity; David L.R. sang about sex and abandon. Both are valid.

ROXY MUSIC. Today’s only really tough call.

PRETENDERS. Chrissie’s band is a top-20 artist for me; the Cure I respect more than like.

SEX PISTOLS. Interesting matchup.

I know the Stones blanked B.B. King, Talking Heads blanked The Tubes in rd. 1 and I think The Smiths did the same in rd. 1.

I know Billy Joel has at least a couple of votes here this round, Henry on the forum and maybe as many as 4 or 5 on e-mail.

#3 Steely Dan - Both have inconsistent albums, with some nice deep cuts and a few great singles. Steely D. has a more of each.

#3 Roxy Music - Awful matchup between two of my least favorite vocalists of all time. But "Virginia Plain" is great so Roxy Music wins.
#5 Pretenders - The Cure is too inconsistent, and Hynde too bad ass, not to go with the Pretenders.

#5 Paul Simon - Much better, if not bigger, solo career. I was listening to parts of Thriller again recently, and too much of it grates.

Heh... In response, I question whether Michael Jackson is separate from the the Jackson 5 (which I know he is for purposes of this game), since his far and away best work came with his brothers.

I am really surprised at the landslide Jackson win here, but I have been a dissenter on his solo career for a long time now.

That's the problem with these email voters. AM splits its vote, and they vote wholeheartedly to one artist, do they always get their way. (LENNON!!!!!)
