#1 U2 vs. #8 Bryan Adams
#5 Crowded House vs. #4 George Michael
#3 Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. #6 Sting
#7 Simple Minds vs. #2 Pet Shop Boys
#1 Public Enemy vs. #8 Ozzy Osbourne
#5 Sade vs. #4 The Flaming Lips
#3 Husker Du vs. #6 Tears For Fears
#7 Talk Talk vs. #2 Metallica
#1 U2
#4 George Michael (VERY tough, like both acts a lot)
pass, can't vote for either in good conscience
#2 Pet Shop Boys
#1 Public Enemy
#4 The Flaming Lips
#3 Husker Du
#7 Talk Talk (also tough, as I love prime Metallica, but Talk Talk's last 3 albums are brilliant)
Crowded House (This isn’t a blowout. I have respect for both Neil and George, but Crowded House meant a lot more to me when I was in college, and this is kind of in recognition of my 20-year-old self.)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (We’ve got two artists today – Sting and Ozzy – about whom I feel rather as I did about John Lennon on Friday: I like, or even love, their original bands, but I think they totally lost the plot once they were on their own. So, although I’m holding my nose a bit, this vote goes to RHCP.)
Pet Shop Boys (There are a few matchups today I’m worried about, and this is one.)
Public Enemy
The Flaming Lips (Strange, strange matchup. My guess is that the Lips’ brush against mainstream success in the last few years will carry the day…hope so, anyway.)
Hüsker Dü (As I said last round, I like TFF, but this is no contest.)
Talk Talk (Argh. They don’t have a prayer against Metallica, but in my book, this is as pure an example of a very underrated act against a very overrated act we’ve seen. I’m fascinated by bands with unusual career arcs, and Talk Talk’s is almost unique…there can’t be too many other acts who, over the course of a ten-year career, started out as average, then progressed, pretty consistently, from good to great to brilliant.)
#1 U2
#4 George Michael
#3 Red Hot Chili Peppers
#7 Simple Minds
Thank you for your Moderate pick Henrik.
#1 Public Enemy
#4 The Flaming Lips
#3 Husker Du
#7 Talk Talk
#1 U2 (This is really a matchup?)
Don't care
#3 Red Hot Chili Peppers (If it was the Police the result would be different)
Don't care
#1 Public Enemy
#4 The Flaming Lips (Yoshimi vs. the Pink Robots alone carries them to victory)
#3 Husker Du (Please)
#2 Metallica (Close vote, but I'm going to side with all the email voters on this one)
Hüsker Dü (As I said last round, I like TFF, but this is no contest.)
I'm not so sure about the "no contest" characterization of this match up.
Any conjecture regarding how the non-AMers will vote on this match-up?
As of 3:00 Central Time it is 14-13 Husker Du with a couple of passes. Potentially up to 10 more voters possible, so it is one of 3 matchups today that are still up in the air.

By "no contest," I meant that it was an easy decision for me, not that I thought the Du was going to win. However, I'm surprised and pleased that the non-AMers are narrowly going for them...obviously it's going to be close.
Somebody should really start a combination Billy Joel/Husker Du fan club. It's clearly an untapped market. :)
