#1 OutKast vs. #16 Goo Goo Dolls
#8 Tool vs. #9 Spoon
#5 Foo Fighters vs. #12 Sheryl Crow
#4 Animal Collective vs. #13 Audioslave
#3 Pulp vs. #14 Arrested Development
#6 Manic Street Preachers vs. #11 Notorious B.I.G
#7 Dr. Dre vs. #10 My Morning Jacket
#2 LCD Soundsystem vs. #15 Rihanna
#1 OutKast ~~~ Easy choice, but their are a few good Goo Goo Dolls stuff, especially pre top-40 fame, just not enough to compete in this matchup...
#9 Spoon ~~~ Up until a few months ago this would have been a no doubter I was voting for Tool, but over the past few months I have really been enjoying Spoon while flipping through Tool songs on my iPod...
#5 Foo Fighters ~~~ To me this has always been a consistantly good band, but now after 16 years they put out an album like they just did elevates this band into greatness and when you look back at all the great songs they have, it seems legit...
#4 Animal Collective ~~~
#3 Pulp ~~~ As much as I like AD, Pulp has some amazing songs above and beyond the brilliant "Common People"...
#6 Manics ~~~ One of my all-time favorite bands vs. an average rapper who someohow was exalted into greatness after his death...
#7 Dr. Dre ~~~
#2 LCD Soundsytem ~~~ I hate Rihanna so I could vote for William Hung against her...
#1 OutKast
#9 Spoon
#5 Foo Fighters
#4 Animal Collective
#14 Arrested Development (Pulp has 2 incredible songs, but that's almost all they have done that I can enjoy)
#11 Notorious B.I.G
pass (I can enjoy both, not fan of either)
#2 LCD Soundsystem
fav albums : Sound of Silver (#12 all time), Feels (#34 all time), The Colour and the Shape (#43 all time)
fav songs : B.O.B. and All My Friends are both in my top 10 songs, many others in my top 100 (Leaf House, Fireworks, Banshee Beat, Someone Great, Ms Jackson, Hey Johnny Park, Good Grief)
#1 OutKast: I think they're a bit overrated, but still worthy of cruising through the top half of this bracket.
Pass (Don't really know either)
Pass (Both are equally meh for me)
Pass (Don't know enough Audioslave)
#14 Arrested Development: I own a tape of theirs, while I don't have any Pulp.
Pass (Don't know Manic Street Preachers well enough)
#7 Dr. Dre: I'm going against my normal rule. I have Z, and every couple of years I listen to it hoping to enjoy it, but I just don't. Dr. Dre has a lot of classic singles.
#2 LCD Soundsystem: I'll miss them so much.
#9 Spoon (Not only do I love Spoon, but they’re from Austin. Who else would I pick? Tool’s not terrible, but it does my heart good to see that every AM voter so far has chosen Spoon - although there are one or two voters who I suspect might go for Tool.)
#5 Foo Fighters
#4 Animal Collective
#3 Pulp (They had two brilliant albums: the accessible Different Class and the not-so-accessible This Is Hardcore. And Arrested Development’s terribly overrated.)
#11 The Notorious B.I.G. (I’ve been ungenerous to hip-hop in this tourney, but I’m happy to give Biggie the nod here against the one Britpop act I’ve never quite warmed up to.)
Pass. (I forgot about Dre, and have only a vague sense of MMJ)
#2 LCD Soundsystem (Dreading the likely matchup of #1 and #2 seeds here. Both are brilliant.)

As I did yesterday, I’ve projected forward my preferred Final Four for the 90s/00s region, based on the artists that are still alive:
Radiohead (over Arcade Fire)
Modest Mouse (over MGMT, and yes, I was surprised by that too)
Blur (over Wilco)
OutKast (over Björk)
#1 OutKast
#9 Spoon - Need lots of AM votes to counter the non-AM votes i nthis matchup.
#5 Foo Fighters
#4 Animal Collective
#3 Pulp - Really tough one. Pulp's larger canon wins out. "Tenessee" and "Common People" are two of the most indelible songs of the 90s.
#11 Notorious B.I.G
#7 Dr. Dre
#2 LCD Soundsystem
OutKast
Tool (you guys are acting like it would be ridiculous to prefer Tool to Spoon...Spoon is a very average indie rock band IMO while Tool can be prone to filler but produces some amazing moments...I feel like the backlash against them is mainly because of their fans)
Foo Fighters
AnCo
Pulp
pass
Dr. Dre
LCD Soundsystem (huge blowout)
Tool (you guys are acting like it would be ridiculous to prefer Tool to Spoon...Spoon is a very average indie rock band IMO while Tool can be prone to filler but produces some amazing moments...I feel like the backlash against them is mainly because of their fans)
That's fair, Jackson. I don't really hate Tool, and I'll concede that, perhaps, it is not entirely ridiculous to prefer Tool. But I strongly dispute that Spoon is average. To me, they are the most consistently great rock band of the past ten years. (Yes, I'm including Radiohead in that assessment.)
#1 OutKast
#9 Spoon
#5 Foo Fighters
#4 Animal Collective
#3 Pulp
#11 Notorious B.I.G
pass
#2 LCD Soundsystem (though they are overrated, and Rihanna has a few remarkable singles)
#1 OutKast
#8 Tool
This is the hardest vote of the week. And the rare occasion where I'm hoping for a high non-AM turnout.
#5 Foo Fighters
Though I have a lot of respect for SC and love her self titled.
#4 Animal Collective
#3 Pulp
#6 Manic
#10 My Morning Jacket
#2 LCD Soundsystem
6 out of 8 votes this week are very, very easy.
@Schleuse
Am I one of the two?
@Jackson
I label Spoon as a 'Consistently above average' band. Everything they do is good, but they're rarely spectacular. Which is why I have to go with Tool, because a handful of their songs are really excellent, even if they do fall a little on the self indulgent side.
#1 OutKast
pass
#5 Foo Fighters
#13 Audioslave Since almost everybody is voting for AC, I want to give Audioslave a bit of sympathy. AC will win anyway, and deservedly so.

Actually, I was thinking of listyguy and Greg, but I didn't want to call anyone out (oops).
Look, as I said, I have no dislike of Tool, and I would agree with the notion that they get a bad rap partly because of their fans--that's a good observation. But I do think Spoon is consistently excellent, and deserves the win.
#1 OutKast
#9 Spoon
#5 Foo Fighters
#4 Animal Collective (a lot closer than it probably was for most of you)
#3 Pulp
#11 Notorious B.I.G
#10 My Morning Jacket
#2 LCD Soundsystem
