Vote for your winners, results posted tomorrow:
#1 Jimi Hendrix vs #16 Donovan
#8 Leonard Cohen vs. #9 Jimmy Cliff
#5 Nick Drake vs. #12 Louis Armstrong
#4 Parliament/Funkadelic vs. #13 The Four Seasons
#3 The Kinks vs. #14 Buffalo Springfield
#6 The Allman Brothers vs. #11 Charles Mingus
#7 The Zombies vs. #10 Solomon Burke
#2 Elvis Presley vs. #15 Dionne Warwick
#1 JIMI - Made it to the championship last year, does Jimi have the magic to make it back this year ala The Butler Bulldogs...
#9 Cliff - I can tolerate his songs, Cohens not so much.
#12 Louis - Much like Cohen, Nick Drake does absolutely nothing that excites me.
#4 P/Funk - Get a raw deal, unfortunately they started making music in the 60's and get placed a difficult bracket.
#3 The Kinks-
#6 The Allman Bros -
#7 The Zombies - Not sure why this band isn't considered more highly than they are, they were awesome.
#2 Elvis - I wanted to pull out an anti-Elvis vote, couldn't dial up the Psychic Hotline though...
#1 Jimi Hendrix
#8 Leonard Cohen
#5 Nick Drake (I wish Louis was matched against someone else)
#4 Parliament/Funkadelic
#3 The Kinks (based on quantity)
11 Charles Mingus
pass
#15 Dionne Warwick (this feels like the right thing to do here, although I'm gonna have to revise my artists list after this vote)
#8 Leonard Cohen (I don’t worship LC, but I appreciate his talent. Jimmy Cliff leaves me kinda flat. I think, like a lot of Clash fans, I tend to prefer the next generation of reggae artists over the likes of Cliff and Bob Marley.)
#12 Louis Armstrong (This feels a lot like last week’s Duke Ellington/Patsy Cline matchup, where I went for Patsy on sentiment alone, since of course, for musical accomplishment, she wasn’t within a light year of Duke. This one is also tough, but, although it’s a real shame to have to vote against Drake, I don’t have as much invested in him as I do in Patsy. And Satchmo is a musical titan by any measure.)
#4 Parliament/Funkadelic
#3 The Kinks
#11 Charles Mingus (Eeeeasy pick.)
#7 The Zombies (Solomon Burke’s fantastic, though.)
#2 Elvis Presley (I’m not going to keep banging on about strange seeding results, but…Presley’s a #2 seed? Really?)
#1 Jimi Hendrix
#8 Leonard Cohen
#12 Louis Armstrong - The greatest popular musician of the 20th century. Not my favorite of all time... just the greatest.
#4 Parliament/Funkadelic
#3 The Kinks - Tough draw for Buffalo Springfield, who I really like, but don't adore, like the Kinks.
#6 The Allman Brothers - See here I'll let sentiment affect my vote against an obectively greater opponent.
#7 The Zombies
#2 Elvis Presley
#1 Jimi Hendrix
#8 Leonard Cohen
#5 Nick Drake (I decided not to account for pre-50s Louis)
#4 Parliament/Funkadelic
#3 The Kinks
#11 Charles Mingus (if the Allmans beat Mingus I'm gonna cry)
#7 The Zombies
#15 Dionne Warwick
#8 Leonard Cohen (I don’t worship LC, but I appreciate his talent. Jimmy Cliff leaves me kinda flat. I think, like a lot of Clash fans, I tend to prefer the next generation of reggae artists over the likes of Cliff and Bob Marley.)

Alot of this has to do with two things.
1.) Elvis got knocked out early to Pixies last year.
2.) The 50/60's region is top-heavy where Elvis is the 11th overall artist.
#1 Jimi Hendrix
#8 Leonard Cohen
#5 Nick Drake - Louis is greater,of course though...
#4 Parliament/Funkadelic
#3 The Kinks
#6 The Allman Brothers
#7 The Zombies - again,Burke is greater but...
#2 Elvis Presley
#1 Jimi Hendrix
#8 Leonard Cohen
#5 Nick Drake
Hate voting against Louis Armstrong.

pass (Can't decide whether to vote for Elvis for his early stuff or against him for his later stuff.)
#1 Jimi Hendrix: Easy win for an artist I'm exploring more lately.

#4 Parliament/Funkadelic: By far my favorite artist of this bracket!
#3 The Kinks: Village Green Preservation Society and a few earlier cracking singles make them an easy winner.
