PJ - Still putting out quality albums... 311 had a couple of quality songs, but I have 3 or 4 311 albums and they are difficult to listen to from beginning to end.
THE ROOTS - There are about 5% of quality $hit-hop artists and a whole lot of commercialized garbage where someone rhymes over a generic beat. These guys are at the top of that 5%!!!
Primal Scream - Really getting into The Decemberists more and more. I still love the first 3 or 4 Primal Scream albums more than The Decemberists.
Franz - Usher makes me ill!!!
Jay-Z - If You're having girl problems I feel bad for you son... I've got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one...
Alicia Keys - Sexy and talented... and a better swimmer. Sorry bad joke. Tough matchup for Mr. Buckley.
Keane - Pac had some decent tracks, "How Do You want It", "I Get Around", "Keep Ya Head Up"... but they just can't hang with the multitude of great Keane tracks.
#1 Pearl Jam: They are sometimes tolerable, at least. Still, yikes.
#9 The Roots: A worthy vote for the next round!
#5 Primal Scream: I'm not overly familiar with either, but what I've heard by Primal Scream I enjoy more.
#4 Franz Ferdinand: Finally, a favorite!
Pass

#7 2Pac: If only to not vote for Keane.
#2 Wilco: If only to not vote for Matchbox 20.
One thing I'm noticing about this game is that although I like the 90s and especially 2000s more than the 60s, I don't generally favor those with critical or broad commercial appeal. Perhaps it's due to being alive at the time, where I can wade through various media to really find what I like, whereas for the 60s, I've used sites like this and RYM for recommedations, naturally going to what is most acclaimed.
That said, the 90s/00s sure seem like a big disappointment based on the artists that seem to be populating this game.
The Buckley matchup is totaly disgusting.
Only one AMer (COUGH COUGH) voted for Alicia, yet she got almost half the votes.
And what's worse is he's facing Jay-Z in the next round, another sure favorite of the non-AMers.
I have a suggestion for Slick: at the top of each post of the brackets, say something like "only vote if you know both artists" and "do not vote based soley on the artist's output during the said decade" just to avoid confusion.
