Re: Priorities, priorities...

From the first list, I recommend Eric Dolphy and The Clash's Sandinista. Both are classics, so even if you don't like them right away, they are worth owning.

Sandinista has some questionable tracks, but that's part of its charm. To think that it was a triple album released only a year after London Calling is amazing. Some of the songs on Sandinista are among the very best ever recorded by The Clash.

BillAdama

The Wrens - Meadowlands
Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch!
Dr. John - Gris Gris
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating as One
Magma – Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh
Mercury Rev - Yerself Is Steam
GZA - Liquid Swords

These are the best out of the ones I've heard. Sample the Magma album before you get it; their style is pretty much all-or-nothing in terms of whether you'll like it (with that being said I'm still on the fence as to whether I think it's a masterpiece after 6+ listens). I think you also might like Pharoah Sanders' Karma if you like jazz albums in the style of Out to Lunch.

At first, I didn't notice "Gris Gris" on your list. That's an awesome record.
