The Rolling Stones vs. The Jam
Journey vs. Buddy Holly
Tom Petty vs. Nine Inch Nails
Radiohead vs. Alice In Chains
Pearl Jam vs. Talking Heads
Fleetwood Mac vs. Blur
The Replacements vs. Foreigner
Def Leppard vs. The Beastie Boys
The Rolling Stones
Boo to the Jam having to face the Rolling Stones!
Buddy Holly
Nine Inch Nails
Nine Inch Nails rocks. I have respect for Petty's songwriting but I find his sound a little bland.
Radiohead
Talking Heads
Talking Heads have a string of really good albums. Pearl Jam has Ten and some other respectable stuff, but there's no comparison.
Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac should write the textbook on pop rock. Blur I don't get.
The Replacements
Guitar rock!!
The Beastie Boys
Def Leppard is another band I consider a 'Dinosaur'. Beastie Boys have stuff I love and stuff I hate, and I'll usually vote for the 'Higher highs lower lows' bands.
The Jam 14, The Rolling Stones 8: Bracketology (where has it gone?!) has reminded me that I quite like a lot of the singles by The Jam. Aside from a few singles by The Rolling Stones, I'm not all that impressed. Buddy Holly 14, Journey 11: Buddy Holly is my favorite 50s artist, and while Journey has some shamelessly good power ballads, I'm not fully convinced. Tom Petty 14, Nine Inch Nails 11: Tom Petty has many singles that I quite love, whereas Nine Inch Nails only has a few- "Closer" and "Only". Radiohead 14, Alice In Chains 6: I finally cracked Radiohead last year and enjoy OK Computer and Kid A. Grunge made the 90s a musical wasteland for me, with bands like Alice in Chains being musically gifted but Moonbeam-alienating. Talking Heads 17, Pearl Jam 6: Talking Heads are another band that it took me awhile to get, but boy, do I get it now! Pearl Jam is yet another grunge act that spoiled the 90s for me, in spite of being quite talented. Fleetwood Mac 15, Blur 14: Tough matchup. My parents played the heck out of Fleetwood Mac throughout my childhood, and many of their singles are still very welcome in my book. Blur also has some great songs, but I was a bit put off by the album I bought of theirs (Blur). Pass on The Replacements vs. Foreginer: I know fewer than 5 songs by both, so I can't make an informed vote. The Beastie Boys 14, Def Leppard 14: This was the toughest choice yet! The Beastie Boys have some solid albums and great singles, but something holds me back from completely adoring them. I quite like Hysteria, but know little else by Def Leppard that I enjoy. "Intergalactic" tipped it in favorite of The Beasties.
Favorite artist: Talking Heads
Favorite artist I didn't vote for: Def Leppard
Favorite album: Speaking in Tongues
Favorite song: "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)"

The Beastie Boys - I hated Hysteria, but Pyromania was pretty good. Anyone remember MTV's Friday Night Video Fights. "Pyromania" was the champ for many weeks.
Fave - The Stones or Radiohead? I ain't calling it yet
Fave not voted for - Noone is really calling out to me. I guess NIN.
The Rolling Stones
Buddy Holly
Nine Inch Nails (The Downward spiral is the decider in this match-up.)

Radiohead vs. Alice is the single biggest mismatch in all of Round 4.
Moderately surprised to find Mac leading Blur in AM voting (currently 11-9, and I doubt that the non-AM vote will make up the difference). By my count Blur released 3 or 4 albums that top Rumours (an album I like). It’ll be kind of sad if Damon ends up in Round 5 with Gorillaz but not with his first (and best) band.

Listyguy, I highly recommend you check out Let it Be by The Replacements. Front to back, it's one of the best straightforward Rock n' Roll records ever made.
winners in 4.5...
Rolling Stones 95% / The Jam 5%
Buddy Holly 70% / Journey 30%
Tom Petty 54% / Nine Inch Nails 46%
Radiohead 71.8% / Alice In Chains 28.2%
Talking Heads 60% / Pearl Jam 40%
Fleetwood Mac 61.5% / Blur 38.5%
The Replacements 66.7% / Foreigner 33.3%
Beastie Boys 74.4% / Def Leppard 25.6%
AM voters went for Radiohead 22-0. That means (correct me if I’m wrong, Slick) that non-AM voters went for Alice in Chains over Radiohead 11-6.
Sheesh.

In other news, I’m very sorry to see Blur go--and I'm VERY surprised by the large margin they lost by. But at least I’ll be spared a T-Heads/Blur head-to-head. That would have been excruciating.
