Slicks Predictions
BEATLES -- win and win big...
KANYE -- Should win bigger than he will, or his ego will allow...
MILES -- Though Seegs gives him a run for his $$$...
TOSS UP -- Too tough to choose a winner in this one...
FLOYD -- big winners...
OUTKAST -- Should also win big...
MARLEY -- Another blow out...
TOSS UP -- Blondie should win, look for Queens of the SA to surprise...
#1 The Beatles
Bad matchup for Nick Cave, who rocks.
#7 The B-52's
B-52s are fun, good but not great. But Kanye is a mediocre rapper who happens to be good at picking samples and gets self-righteous about things he knows next to nothing about.
#5 Miles Davis
Bob Seger may be younger, but he's the dinosaur of the two.
#3 Tears For Fears
Ugh. I hate JCM.
#2 OutKast
The rap act of the decade versus a murderer. (An actual murderer, not a fake one, like all the other big rap acts of the decade.)
#1 Bob Marley
#2 Blondie
Can't stand QOTSA, Blondie is both catchy and awesome.
The Beatles - liking them less and less, but still love them...
Kanye West - imma let you finish but those first two albums were some of the best of all time.
Miles Davis - recent finding, still wins
pass
Pink Floyd - only just really
Outkast - easy win for an excellent rap group
pass
Blondie - awesome new wave band.
Favourite Artist: The Beatles (Kanye or Outkast second)
Favourite Album: Revolver (then Stankonia)
Favourite Song: Tomorrow Never Knows (then B.O.B.)
FNVF: QOTSA
#5 Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: Easy win!
#7 The B-52's: Easy win!
#5 Miles Davis: I don't know either artist all that well, but what I know of Miles Davis I like a little better.
#3 Tears for Fears: Good matchup of big 80s acts! Tears for Fears wins this easily.
#4 The Moody Blues: Not a fan of Pink Floyd.
#2 OutKast: Easy win.
#5 Rick Springfield: Easy win again, embarrassing as that may be.
#2 Blondie: My favorite artist this bracket by far, they're in my top 10.
This week seems to feature a lot of highly acclaimed artists that I really don't like (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley).
Favorite artist: Blondie (#7 all-time)
Favorite artist I didn't vote for: Bob Seger
Favorite album: Eat to the Beat
Favorite song: "War Child"
jerry lee lewis killed someone (besides his audiences)?
I read somewhere that there was a suspicious death that led to murder allegations, but I can't seem to find where I read that. Maybe that was somebody misinterpreting his nickname. In any event, he definitely married his 13 year old cousin.
in other words: my post was glennbeckish in the first place, but thanks for reading anyway.. sorry that i've wasted your time..
My original post was intended as a mostly facetious comment. Sorry if you took it seriously. I always look forward to reading your posts dishing on people. You're like the board's Don Rickles!
I found a quote: "The media struck Jerry Lee a cruel blow again in 1984 when Rolling Stone, the up-market magazine for yuppies and ageing rockers, virtually accused him of the murder of his fifth wife, Shawn."
So he was accused of murder, but not by anyone with autority.
The Beatles
The B-52’s (to my list of songs I should probably add to my personal top 20, add “Private Idaho.”)
Miles Davis (Miles vs. Seger is a bigger mismatch than the Beatles vs. Nick Cave.)
Tears for Fears
Pink Floyd
OutKast
Bob Marley
Blondie
I’m most sorry to be voting against: Jerry Lee and Josh Homme.
The Beatles - Nick Cave's "(I'll Love You) Till the End of the World" is somehow haunting, horrifying, exhilirating, tender, and beautiful in equal measure. I still love "I Am the Walrus" better.
Kanye West
Miles Davis
Tears For Fears - Very tough call between two early faves of mine. If you ever hear Johnny Cougar interviewed these days, you know he is may more pretensious than his discography should allow. But despite often living up to the label "Springsteen-lite," he could write and deliver a catchy tune that still included more depth than most hits. But musically TfF (and the fine album "Songs from the Big Chair") are better.
Pink Floyd
OutKast - Tough draw for JLL, who is definitely underrated.
Bob Marley
Blondie - I am in a period of re-enjoying Parallel Lines quite a bit.
Fave- Beatles
Fave not voted for - Jerry Lee Lewis
