This guy must not be paying attention to Youtube, because there are vids of him galore! I've put up some live versions of some songs before they disappear. The rehearsal of "Something in the Water" is the stuff of legend!

It's possible that the large-ish group of new contributers was enough to put the Stones above the 'head, but I'd still have to put my money on Radiohead. I do think they'll get beaten by Dylan, but probably not by as large a margain as last time.
I really really like this top 10. To me, if you want a general picture of music over the last 50 years you wouldn't go wrong buying these artists' best albums. A good mix of the 60 explosion as well as the cornerstones of modern rock and pop (Radiohead, Prince, R.E.M. and David Bowie). I only wish that there was space in the top 10 for one more "alternative" band, be it Pixies or Talking Heads.
8. Pink Floyd- The Barrett years were amazing and most everything after that was pretty special as well.
15. Kinks- For a band as big as they are, they should have been much, much bigger.
48. Neil Young- The songs are great, the voice not so much. But some artists you just have to forgive because their talent is so amazing.
9. Stevie Wonder- An artist who I’ve really come to enjoy over the past year. Some of his hits kept me away but I listened to Songs in the Key of Life and there was no going back.
11. Beach Boys- A tough band to peg down since the different lineups and sounds are dramatically different. For me, I base this rating off the early singles and one amazing album.
13. REM- A long career might have tainted their legacy but to me it’s strengthened it. While some of their later work pales to their best, it still is music that most bands would love to call their own. But, not many bands can rival their IRS output.
34. Prince- I’ve really come to admire Prince over the past year for a couple reasons. First, he’s really embraced Minneapolis and the music community like no other artist has ever done. Second, he has amazing music.
6. Velvet Underground- I can’t think of another band of any era that was as cutting edge but still remained accessible. So ahead of their time but at the same time I can’t believe they weren’t all over the radio.
26. David Bowie- There’s so much of his catalog I still need to listen to but he was one of the first to find that medium between art, weird and listenable. He sticks out like a sore thumb in my dad’s record collection and I think many of us can say the same. How many of us 30 something’s parents had a Velvet Underground album in their collection? How many had Bowie? He made art and flamboyance mainstream.

Moonbeam, congratulations (again). Awesome presentation. Every poll you host is an absolute success.
I second that!
I "third " that
Only experienced two personally, but based on this and the album poll, I definitely agree. Great job Moonbeam, and in perfect sync with my return from holiday
Also kind of wish I'd voted now I see Dylan below Radiohead.
49. Rolling Stones- You have Rolling Stones fans and you have people who like a dozen Rolling Stones songs. I’m not a fan but even I can admit that the only other option is to like a dozen songs is pretty outstanding.
22. Bob Dylan- Not much you can say about Dylan, the songs are great, the longevity is amazing and he’s the hometown “kid”.
12. Radiohead- While Nirvana brought the rock world to it’s knees, a little bit of the art was lost at no fault of their own. Radiohead brought that back to the mainstream.
1. Beatles- Nobody has come close, and although I hope someone does it’s not likely. The songs the band passed off to others propelled careers, and bands would die for The Beatles worst songs to be their best.

The band would have to suck pretty badly if they longed for 'Wild Honey Pie' or 'Ob-La-Di' to be their finest moment...
Every band in the AM top 100 has at least a song better than at least 75% of their catalogue...
I didn't vote in this poll - somehow, it simply fell off my radar entirely until it was too late - but I just want to join the chorus of praise for Moonbeam for doing such a fantastic job compiling and presenting the results!

Kudos to Moonbeam and thanks to the many participants who provide such great explanations about the music they care so much about.
While I would personally have voted Dylan miles above Radiohead, I can't lament the fact that the collective AM community disagrees with me -- on the contrary, seeing that such an intelligent and dedicated bunch of people can value something even higher than Dylan is an inspiring reminder to go on listening. The music is out there.
