RIP Alex Chilton

Sad news. I never get too emotional about celebs dying, but I haven't been this sad about a person I didn't know dying since Elliott Smith. I'm lucky that I was able to see him 5 or 6 years ago when he was cool with playing Big Star songs.

Re: RIP Alex Chilton

that's too bad, i just recently got into Big Star.

Re: RIP Alex Chilton

Since I started following music, no one I've actually listened to (except MJ of course) has died until now. This is horrible news.

Re: RIP Alex Chilton

Sad news.

I only just recently listened to Big Star's first two albums, and they really do live up to their hype. In particular, I was incredible moved by "The Ballad of El Goodo." That track simply slayed me.

Re: RIP Alex Chilton

Terribly sad. His music deserved a far greater audience then it ever achieved, September Gurls will never sound more sweet.

Re: RIP Alex Chilton

I listened to all three Big Star albums today. Never have they seemed sadder before, with lines that I hadn't thought much of before like "feel like I'm dying" now being incredibly poignant. I hope this at least gives Big Star a bigger audience.
