Re: Daily Mail (UK) EOD: Top 50 Albums Of The Noughties
, or: how to neatly summarise the biggest names of the past ten years for a white mostly middle-upper class audience who likely have little concept of contemporary music whatsoever, making sure to avoid offending them by putting those just awful men like Eminem and Pete Doherty in there. Oh and no bleeding ethnics who doesn't cater to middle england, thank you very much.
I hope you have that kind of reaction to lists that, say, are predominantly one genre or another. At least one like this has some different genres, and some of the albums actually did receive a decent amount of widespread acclaim. (though certainly not a Back to Basics or Take That, among a few other titles)
And if it were a rundown of the biggest names from the last 10 yeas, wouldn't Britney Spears be on there?

Okay okay, you know what I mean!
There is nothing pushing the boat out in any way here, and almost all the albums come from acts that their readership would be at least partially familiar with just from being in the public eye or selling heaps of records, or a tiny number of critically acclaimed darlings that are still moderately popular enough (FF, VW, Sufjan) to get away with.
of this list's top 50 is not in the current AM top 3,000- and 7 are bubbling under. Which leaves 14 that have no current presence on AM. I think there have been worse lists, just going by that.
Plus, a few albums were well-recieved, even though they're not on the AM site (i.e. Alicia Keys, Estelle, Joss Stone)
The albums not in the current top 3,000:
ALICIA KEYS: The Diary Of Alicia Keys)
ADELE: 19 (I though this would be- maybe soon?)
DESTINY'S CHILD: Survivor
CHRISTINA AGUILERA: Back To Basics
GIRLS ALOUD: Tangled Up
SNOW PATROL: Final Straw (Bubbling Under)
TAKE THAT: Beautiful World
THE BLACK EYED PEAS: Elephunk
NE-YO: Year Of The Gentleman
KEANE: Hopes And Fears (Bubbling Under)
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE: Justified (Bubbling Under)
RIHANNA: Good Girl Gone Bad
MUSE: Black Holes & Revelations (Bubbling Under)
THE KILLERS: Sam's Town (Bubbling Under)
MIKA: Life In Cartoon Motion
MARK RONSON: Version
PAOLO NUTINI: Sunny Side Up
KYLIE: Fever (Bubbling Under)
JOSS STONE: The Soul Sessions
ESTELLE: Shine
THE KOOKS: Inside In / Inside Out (Bubbling Under)
you would be correct- on the main page, it even says "our critic's..." If it didn't say that and the writer had phrased it as "our picks," would be a different story.
BTW- Henrik, are you still using the same e-mail you have been? I sent a message earlier in the week, not sure if you received it.
