It's Not Really Fair...

to group Alicia Keys and Beyonce with Britney Spears, Christian Aguilera and Mariah Carey, as their albums generally fare a little better than theirs.

4) The Rolling Stones' "Bigger Bang" will place ... (over/under: 25)

It probably wont place as high as other "classics" that they gave 5 stars like Goddess In The Doorway
Mick Jagger or the "masterpiece" To The 5 Boroughs
by the Beastie Boys ;-)

Re: Rolling Stone prognostication game

Anybody up for a side bet on whether an R.E.M. album gets in?

I would guess yes. If any outlet is going to plump for a band almost two decades past its peak, this is it. I think Accelerate is the likeliest candidate, with Reveal as a possible dark horse.

(Neither album really deserves it--even I know that.)

Re: Rolling Stone prognostication game

1) Over (1 each) (5 chips)

2) Under (They'll be happy with WBC and Elephant) (5 chips)

3) Under (Kid A + In Rainbows are locks, I don't see Amnesiac getting in) (25 chips)

4) Under (It'll factor in top 100, but I think even Rolling Stone will have gotten over it) (5 chips)

5) All That You Can't Leave Behind (25 chips)

6) Over. No way Songs In A Minor is not on their list. (15 chips)

7) False. DS is fresher in their memories. (5 chips)

8) Under. Not more than 5. (5 chips)

9) College Dropout (It's totally Stankonia, but I'm not confident enough in that to wager more than 5, so I'm going for the higher payoff.) (5 chips)

10) Over. Those don't seem like Rolling Stone-ish albums. (5 chips)

We should have done this for Pitchfork!

Re: Rolling Stone prognostication game

Betting is officially closed due to the list already being available. Results to come.

Re: Rolling Stone prognostication game

Good thing nobody took that R.E.M. bet.

(I would have been kind of embarrassed if I was right, so really, it's a win-win for me.)

Re: Rolling Stone prognostication game

Well, I got a bunch wrong but at least I put my chips on the right spots. I can't believe I didn't take the 6:1 odds on the Blueprint. I always forget that was released in '01... I don't know how seeing it was released on a day everyone should remember.
