EOY list musicOMH

http://blog.musicomh.com/musicomh/2009/11/musicomhs-top-50-albums-of-2009.html

Came across this by chance. It was included the last few years, so I guess it's eligible. They're only up to #21, but the rest of the list will be unveiled over the course of this week.

Re: EOY list musicOMH

Annie gets her first placement with Don't Stop! Awesome! Hopefully, many more are forthcoming.

Second list. She was 32nd on the Planet Sound list I posted which should be eligible too.

Re: EOY list musicOMH

I have these:
50: Sonic Youth - The Eternal
49: Girls - Album
48: Shakira - She Wolf
46: Super Furry Animals - Dark Days/Light Years
44: Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle
39: Antony And The Johnsons - The Crying Light
36: Sunn O))) - Monoliths & Dimensions
33: La Roux - La Roux
29: Annie - Don't Stop
27: St Vincent - Actor
25: Neko Case - Middle Cyclone
22: The Flaming Lips - Embryonic
21: Wilco - Wilco (The Album)
19: Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
17: Muse - The Resistance
15: Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
14: Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
13: The Big Pink - A Brief History Of Love
12: Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
11: Arctic Monkeys - Humbug

They only put it until number 11! Glad to see Annie's Don't Stop, too. But the surprises are Shakira's She Wolf & Lady GaGa's The Fame Monster, two great pop albums. Great position for La Roux's self-titled. Another pretty good year for Neko Case, "Middle Cyclone" might not reach "Fox Confessor Brings The Flood" heights, but sure is one of the years' best. St. Vincent's Actor... well, when this album was released i thought it would be the female singer/songwriter album of the year, you know... that female album that is in everyone lists, but i'm surprised that i didn't see it a lot. Unless Florence + The Machine place Lungs inside the top 10 (which is very possible, since musicomh love it), Bat For Lashes' Two Suns will be my favorite female album of the list. Natasha truly rocked with that album, it was nothing like Fur & Gold, another album that i love, that was a a huge risk, but she delivered. Surprised that Dirty Projectors didn't make the top 10, but nevertheless 15 is a great position. And did people forget about the Lily Allen album ? It was great electropop. Maybe she's inside the top 10, who knows ? I sure bet that YYY's It Blitz! is.

Off: Pitchfork started to do its reader's pool, i participate it was cool, but their choices to best albums of 2009 are pretty predictable. I saw in a blog Slant will also soon publish its EOY list. Some choices might be:
-Bat For Lashes' Two Suns,
-St. Vincent's Actor,
-Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion
-Dirty Projectors' Bitte Orca
-Yacht's See Mystery Light
-Yeah Yeah Yeah's It's Blitz
- Japandroids' Post-Nothing

This is only based on the ratings these records received from the magazine, we gotta keep in mind that Slant is very unpredictable, last year they rated Kanye West's 808's & Heartbreak 2 stars and still added inside their list of the top records of 2008. So maybe some of these records might not make it, despite being quite hard since most of them received a 5 or 4.5 stars at the time of the release. Praying that they might include Tori Amos' Abnormally attracted to Sin, hated that album, but it would be nice to see mrs. Amos inside a list, I haven't seen this since 2002's Scarlet's Walk.

Another list that forgets about 'Hospice'. 'Album' is too low I think, but #4 for 'Two Dancers' and #3 for The xx are great.

Re: EOY list musicOMH

They did give 'Hospice' 4.5/5. But they also gave the same rating to the albums by Animal Collective, The xx and Fuck Buttons. I wonder which one won't make the list.

I'm kinda liking this list so far, especially if they include 'Hospice' in the top 3. 'Album' is too low I think, but #4 for 'Two Dancers' is great.

Inside the top 10 i have these, so far. I knew it Florence would be there, my god the reception is being much better than what i thought it would be! This is my favorite and in my opinion the most complete EOY list so far! But i got check the top 3 first before i finally feel able to say this! Nice to see YYY, Fever Ray, but according to the comments there 4 of this years best and only 3 spots, so one is out. Which one ?
