Re: Uncut - EOY

Very happy to see Bitte Orca at #2. That album really epitomizes "album as an art form". Best EOY list so far, and I believe Uncut is the first (soon to be of many) to annoint MPP.

Re: Uncut - EOY

Awful list. The only album I like in the top 10 is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Seems like a lot of polarizing bands in these top lists this year. I am sure more people hate bands like Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, and Wild Beasts than like them.

Phoenix album isn't too bad.

Re: Uncut - EOY

Some more love for 'XX' is nice, but another list to completely ignore 'Hospice'. Shame.

Agreed on both counts. XX is my #3 for the year, and Hospice will probably land in my T10. I'm sure the Indie lists will give it some love.

Re: Uncut - EOY

The rest of it is already up at Rocklists.net except top 20 Americana & 10 bubblers which, in alphabetical order, are :

Lily Allen - It's not you it's me
The Antlers - Hospice
The Cribs - Ignore the ignorant
Franz Ferdinand - Tonight : Franz Ferdinand
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
Luke Haines - 21st Century Man
Levon Helm - Electric Dirt
Ian Hunter - Man Overboard
Sun Araw - Heavy Deads
U2 - No Line On The Horizon

As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure that their top 14 (excluding Dylan and maybe SFA) are the albums that we will see the most on the EOY lists (maybe not Bill Calahan, but it should).
I can see how Dirty Projectors is polarizing (it almost even "polarized" myself, I sometimes love it and sometimes hate it... anyway Stillness is the Move is one of the top tracks of the year), but the 2 others are not that much. Animal Collective is as strange as usual but somehow manage to make an album that can appeal to a large audience. I listened to Wild Beasts for the first time yesterday and found it amazing, I guess people might dislike the voice of the singer (I'm not totally comfortable with it too) but I don't get how the rest of the music can be hated ! It will probably end on my top 5 of the year

And love for the XX and Fever Ray is more than welcome !

40. Felice Brothers – Yonder Is The Cock

Now that sounds like an interesting album...

Re: Uncut - EOY

in their EOD list, the three highest-placed albums from 2009 were

Animal Collective
Dylan
Levon Helm (not even on this list)

odd

Re: Uncut - EOY

I really like this list. My #2 is their #1 and my #3 is their #3. The only one near the top of my list that isn't on theirs is BLK JKS - After Robots. It's good to see White Denim - Fits on there.

It's probably worth checking out even if it is Yonder is the Clock. I saw them live and they rocked hard. Never heard one of their albums though.

I have already heard this and intend to get it, I was just being a bit of a smart-arse.
