I thought you might be interested by this one.
A rock magazine in France called Crossroads (now Xroads, since it fusionned with a cinema magazine called "Brazil") has made several all time lists in special issues, separated in periods. I was aware of these lists by my brother but I was unable to find it. On the internet, I found at least two of these lists, the "100 best of 1960-1968" one and the "108 best of 1969-1972". No great surprises in though, except the absence of "Please Please Me" & "Abbey Road" while "Beatles For Sale" is included, among others, and a complete absence of french albums, maybe it's intentional.
The 1960-1968 comes from this page:
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/ben007/best_of_crossroads___1960_1968___100_albums_essentiels/
and the 1969-1972 from scans of the table of contents on this page:
http://www.yellow-sub.net/forum/archipel-culturel/crossroads-1969-1972-108-albums-t341.html
The guy with the 1960-1968 list seems to have other all-time lists in his profile, you should check out:

You're welcome.
I told you about this link:
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/ben007/
I checked the lists, so:
- 300 disques incontournables - 1965/1995 - Hors Série Rock&Folk (1995): is the same as "300 best albums from 1965-1995" by Rock&Folk, but this one is more complete, since it includes the four part addition divided as follow "10 jazz albums", "10 blues albums", "10 country albums", "10 original soundtracks", which seems to be omitted on your site.
- Les Inrockuptibles - 10 ans - 100 disques 1986 à 1996 (1996): same as "The 100 best albums 1986-1996" you already have.
- 50 albums Glam Rock (1997): by Rock&Folk. No particular remark.
- Disco 2000 1938-1999 par Rock & Folk (1999): it seems to be the same as "The Best Albums from 1963 to 1999" you already have, although it includes some albums from before this time, vastly compilations though.
- Les 50 meilleurs disques de Rock par Télérama (2004): same as "50 LPs in the history of rock" you already have.
- 100 albums essentiels du rap - Olivier Cachin (2006): "100 essential rap albums" by Olivier Cachin, published as a book. There are strange choices, though, and few bands or artists have more than one album.
- Les 100 albums essentiels du reggae - par Olivier Cachin & Bertrand Lavaine (2007): "100 essential reggae albums" by Olivier Cachin & Bertrand Lavaine, again a book. Same oddities as before.
- Révolution électronique - Trax (2004): "Electronic revolution" by Trax. They say on the cover "20 years of electronic revolution", but the 100 selected albums go beyond.
- Discothèque Idéale - Rock & Folk - Philippe Manœuvre (2005): you already have this one.
- Discotheque Idéale II - Magazine Rock & Folk: an ongoing "one album each month" page in the magazine, intended as a follow-up to the aforementioned book. Not sure it qualifies for the site.
- 100 disques de jazz - Télérama 1994: 100 jazz albums by Télérama.
- Best Of Crossroads - 1960-1968 - 100 Albums Essentiels: The list I gave you.
- 101 Albums Punk - Rock & Folk (2003): There's only one album for each band/artist.
Hope I helped .
merci beaucoup S7
XRoads is a great magazine, devoted to roots rock
Many thanks for this summary, S7. Here are my comments / notes for myself.
- Révolution électronique - Trax (2004): "Electronic revolution" by Trax. They say on the cover "20 years of electronic revolution", but the 100 selected albums go beyond.
- Discotheque Idéale II - Magazine Rock & Folk: an ongoing "one album each month" page in the magazine, intended as a follow-up to the aforementioned book. Not sure it qualifies for the site.
- Best Of Crossroads - 1960-1968 - 100 Albums Essentiels: The list I gave you.
- 100 disques de jazz - Télérama 1994: 100 jazz albums by Télérama.
These four lists will be included.

I will include what's not already included from these lists.
- 50 albums Glam Rock (1997): by Rock&Folk. No particular remark.
- 100 albums essentiels du rap - Olivier Cachin (2006): "100 essential rap albums" by Olivier Cachin, published as a book. There are strange choices, though, and few bands or artists have more than one album.

- 101 Albums Punk - Rock & Folk (2003): There's only one album for each band/artist.
These are genre-specific lists from a non-specific magazine or a single writer and will not be included.
Hi Henrik, I've seen a book entitled "LE ROCK FRANCAIS: Les 100 disques incontournables" today written by Philippe Manoeuvre and with contribution from various critics! My question is, would you consider "french rock" as a genre-specific list by a non-genre-specific magazine? Would you include it given that ROCK&FOLK the magazine that P.M. works for also tackles french Rock? Let me know; besides that I got the 3 CROSSROADS issues and was about to type the lists but S7 was a wee bit faster! Good on him! The most recent one is entitled 1973-1975: 105 albums essentiels; same as above if needed give a yell!
Go for it, o.m., I'm unable to find the 1973-1975 list so if you can post it, that's cool!
And, Henrik, I don't know if you saw it, but I sent a new list yesterday from Rolling Stone Argentina here:
http://pub37.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=3172289350&frmid=10&msgid=1017685&cmd=show
That's just to know if you got it.
No problem .

So you understand why I said unusual? Well this mag tends toward blues, folk and traditional rock so the usual suspects are not in...Among the EOD pretenders only WILCO (2 inclusions) and AMY WINEHOUSE might grab a few points...Okay I'm off to do some grape harvest in Beaujolais and drink lots of wine...Catch you soon Henrik and greetings to your little growing family
Harold, didn't you feel like including this EOD list?
