Considering my stats the '80s are definitely the "weak" decade for me.
But the fact is these two lasts years I've enjoyed a lot of '80s stuff but not especially albums which are in the top 100.
As a "pure" pop fan, the best of the '80s is according to me bands like XTC/Dukes Of Stratosphear, Prefab Sprout, Squeeze, Split Enz, The Spongetones, Rain Parade, The Blue Nile, The Smiths or Aztec Camera.

On physical format, I only own about 175 albums. The results of each top 100 is not really a surprise :

On the 60s, 70s and 80s I don't own more than 1 or 2 albums out of the top 100, most of what is left in my collection has been released after 95.

Ooh didn't know how many i had, i counted and it was pretty surprising the final results! The majority of the ones missing to complete 100 From the 80's, 90's and 00's are hip-hop albums. I really tried to like it, to love it, but it didn't work, it's truly not my area or my jam, but i do recognize that hip-hop is music, and it's not because i don't like it that means is bad or not genius, many of them are really genius, i just can't appreciate like other people. From the 60's, the 70's and the 50's i didn't know about them, next vacation i'll sure check them out.

Oddly enough, the list of albums I own has less to do with how much I like them and more to do with availability. I live in sort of a retirement community in FL with a population of about 100k, so we obviously don't have as big of a record selection as a record store in a big city.

The good thing with old thread is that I can compare the evolution with one year ago. I now own about 100 more CDs than back then.

This was way more balanced than I thought it would be. I thought the 60s and 70s would have far more than any other decade, especially since I have about twice as many songs from those decades on iTunes compared with the 80s.

Also, I'd say about 90% of the albums were in the top 50 for their respective decade. I really need to find some gems in the 51-100 zone for each decade.
