I need to replace mine and have seen new ones for sale (Drags, British Only). Ha sanyione any experience of these or should I try and find a NOS one?
thanks
Hi Dean
I have 2 of them here, both are U.K. made & versus an nos type I have - are comparable in measurement terms
Of course not all repro parts made in U.K. are perfect / but knowing the source of these I am happy to use them in projects I have here & have a friend happily using one - clocking up the miles without issue
I have accumulated some new old stock steel plates & fibre discs over the years & all these fit perfectly which is something the modern steel plates don’t do - all needing some bit of fettling - another source of manufacture with varying degrees of compatibility
Price wise they are good value in my opinion - just wish they had been made with some form of sealed bearing race to get rid of those roller bearings & grease associated with them
Maybe to differentiate yours mark - you could consider this as a mod - other wise - you are making another part already available on the market
I bought a Draganfly one to fit to someone elses bike..It was rubbish and cost me about 2 days work to get it to function correctly (including some machining...Ian
Thanks for your replies guys.
Mark, I can wait till the end of next week!
John/ Ian.....a score draw so far!
To be honest I don't know of mine needs replacing. I've stripped the clutch down to source a noise. So far what I have discoverd is that some of the links on the chain are very sticky and the sides of the chainwheel a bit worn and teeth sharp but not hooked.
The chain doesn't look like its overheated and is oily and has down about 8K miles. I might just try a new chain for now and see how it goes?
The clutch parts I started making some time ago was to prove that if the single spring clutch was made to a higher standard with better materials all the problems would go away.
The lack of good clutch plates has put me off a bit. There must be a UK manufacturer.
