I am looking for just the cover with legible numbers for 1937 project.
MCR1 L9 was used on Ni-Fe of 1937, the L5 marked versions were used on Ni-Fe of 1938 until Ni-Fe was replaced by Lead Acid in 1939.
Rob, there can't be many around. Most in the UK would have been changed for Lead-Acid during the war. Belgium and France are the most likely place to find one. A request on Facebook, with it's translate facility might be a good idea.
For info, this is what a December 1936 example looks like.
Like Ni-Fe batteries themselfs, I am convinced somewhere in the French or Belgian countryside there are some hidden examples of both in a forgotten corner of a shed/barn of an owner who does not know what to do with it or even knowing to have it/them.
