Vincent, I have a Parts Wanted ad on the Early Ford V8 Club website. I just received a message from
Mark Donald <74markdonald@gmail.com> He says he has one and will be contacting me with the details.
If he does reply, I think I'll play with him for awhile and see where it leads. Might be entertaining.
He is the second scammer to reply. The first one was George Potter g1978@gmail.com He offered me parts from a 1936 Ford for ridiculously cheap prices and near free shipping. He included a picture of a beautiful '36 Sedan that he said he was parting out because he had upcoming surgery. Big red flag! Wanted a cashiers check made out to his daughter.
I found that if the email is from a GMAIL account, you can google it and it will show history of it from the web. that's how I saw your post.
I used to make them in 2013.
Mainly for the single spares man in the AOMCC.
Following a email conversation lately with Jan I checked with the AOMCC and the shields (part no. 6170-37) are still on their list as for sale.
But in order to buy one from the spares you will have to be a AOMCC member
I dont have any -more- in stock myself.
regards, Vincent.
Yes it is.
part no. shows it being used from '37.
I believe it was fitted to all rigid and plunger framed Ariels till end production.
Maybe not on the SQ4's but I dont know that.
Trick in making it are the rounded corners, not angle bends.
I made a mould for it to replicate those corners.
Thanks for your reply Ron.
I want to fit it on a WNG, those have another type of foot.
I can rework this base in to the 'WNG' type of foot but I might get lynched by the Triumph & Norton folk
I don't think there is much chance of being lynched, but in general, the type with two feet are a deal easier to find than the clamp-on type and are usually a slightly lower price.
It shouldn't be a problem to find a bolt-on type at a lowish price if you're intending to strip out the internals to fit electronic and aren't too worried about the condition.
