I rebuilt this 500cc engine for a friend who was hoping to install it in his WD/CO outfit to increase the pulling power. But after 6 months in hospital where he nearly died of Covid, he's had to step away from such a project. It's had a total rebuild with custom needle roller mains and big end a genuine NOS O/S piston and rebore.
I have lots of pictures of the rebuild and offer it here cheaply to clear the bench and recoup some of the costs, for £750 for both items.
Hi Kalle. Darren Wrudd our resident bearing guy supplied the quality main bearings which came with a hardened sleeve to press on the mainshafts. My engineer friend made up the bushes to press into the crankcase. These made up the distance between the new bearings and the originals.
Jan supplied the big end which was made by a friend of his for racing Royal Enfield engines
This pictures shows the floating bush big end which was not used. Ron
I think the needle roller bearings come in all sorts of sizes for different applications. I heard from another RE guy that he converts his engines that way also. The trouble with the normal caged roller bearings is the wear that is created on the main shafts. Ron
