Re: LUCAS CONVOY LIGHT CABLE CONNECTOR SET.

I have a couple here for Lex's project. I don't know if he has anymore to spare? Some bikes also have one on the poss battery lead and Norton's at least have one on the regulator A cable. Ron

Best ask Lex about it. Put him in the search box. I have seen repros on ebay. Ron

Re: LUCAS CONVOY LIGHT CABLE CONNECTOR SET.

Just saw this, but running very low on the originals, sorry. Roy van Dorp here is making replica's, the Vincent club used to have very cheap replica's but the guy making them passed away, so they're discontinued,

Cheers,

Lex

ps, I do have a drawing so you can have them made or do it yourself.

Re: LUCAS CONVOY LIGHT CABLE CONNECTOR SET.

Ron,

What makes you say that Norton had one connector in the A lead to the regulator?
As far as I know the only ones are the rear light wire to facilitate mudguard bottom portion removal and the positive battery lead (described in the M&I manual as being 1 ft from the battery).

I do not read the sentence in the 16H M&I manual (part 117) "disconnect the wire from the A terminal of the regulator unit" to tell that it has a connector in it. The way I read it just states "remove the wire from the terminal".

Do you have other information?

Cheers,

Rob

Re: LUCAS CONVOY LIGHT CABLE CONNECTOR SET.

Rob since I was re-wiring Lex's WD/C, I queried why he had sent me three connectors. He sent me these pictures. One original B4 photo where you can just see the connector behind the oil cap. The other pic is Rik's original loom. We decided that it doesn't apply to the RE or the one sometimes fitted to the battery lead.

Hopefully Rik can confirm. Ron

Re: LUCAS CONVOY LIGHT CABLE CONNECTOR SET.

Ah Ron, fading memories.

I made that picture of Rik's wire loom myself!! In 2005 I specifically went to visit him because of the wireloom details.
He called me a wire loom fetishist then!! the rude person he is
Funny how I forgot what I probably have noticed then!
Looking at it I seem to remember now that Rik and I did discuss it then.

I do however wonder if it was done on all Norton MC's over time.
The M&I manuals were later war documents and the text does not refer to a connector at all on wire A. It does mention the connector for the battery! (It also does not mention the connector for the rear light!)

A pity that the electrical system was never clearly described, nor by Lucas nor by Norton.

Thank you for helping my memory! I will amend the website accordingly

Cheers

I also can't remember seeing the connectors in the wiring diagrams. Cheers Rob
