My Images on the forum.

Imgur have pulled out of the UK due to the online safety bill, they say they could be fined by the UK government, I can't even sign in to the site it's all blocked, I could probably use another image hosting site but all the images already on here would stay deleted,or I could try and get them back by the use of a VPN and carry on using Imgur, will have to look into what would be the best option.

Re: My Images on the forum.

I'm not sure I understand all the changes, I'm still using ImgBB for the moment.

Re: My Images on the forum.

Nothing works for me any more which is why I've pretty much given up posting unless I can make a short reply with no need for an image.

Re: My Images on the forum.

I've signed up to a VPN so I could gain access and use imgur again after they pulled out of the UK, but then realised that unless you are using a VPN in the UK you wouldn't be able to view any images that I pasted on here,so I've also created an account with imgbb which seems ok at the moment, the problem is they are also US based and could go the same way as imgur and also pull out of the UK due to Labours online safety bill.

Re: My Images on the forum.

Is it due to VPNs that the trolls keep getting access to this forum? Henk used to ban an IP address but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

Re: My Images on the forum.

This is why I host my own pictures.
It's bad enough that google are deleting history, but the loss of pictures on here will be a great shame.

Re: My Images on the forum.

Unfortunately Rob, with the scale of the current spamming, banning IP addresses is a game of "Whack-a-Mole'. We have been discovered by organisations or groups in India and Pakistan who use numerous IP addresses at any one time. They presumably have access to multiple dynamic IPs.

A total ban on all Indian sub-continent IP addresses is apparently not possible.

Re: My Images on the forum.

For God's sake, why don't we use this:

Re: My Images on the forum.

As far as I can see, that would be a single password which would have to be notified to all users which would be OK for a small group, but not an open forum.

There are very few Admin tools available with Bravenet.

Re: My Images on the forum.

You would need to use a VPN in the UK now to view Imgur images on here,I have signed up to one ,at the moment its in Chicago but you can change locations, using imgbb now but thats also US based so they could also go the way as Imgur ,due to the fear of being fined by the UK gov, Imgur pulled out of the UK due to Labours online safty bill, they would not bring in age verification checks that the UK gov wanted so pulled out.

Re: My Images on the forum.

It's not truly Labour's Online Safety Act.

The Online Safety Act was introduced by the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with former Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries playing a key role. The bill was later taken forward and passed into law during the premierships of Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.

Because it was enacted in stages, it is only now that the restrictions have come into place.

The big platforms such as Facebook love it as they can afford the compliance and claim they are using AI to monitor everything, which of course they don't. Johnson probably took a bung from one of the big social media operators.

Re: My Images on the forum.

I host my own pictures and have now upgraded to HTTPS, let's hope that will work.
